Hi. I’m new to my Freelander 1 (05) but am growing to like it - a lot. There have been niggles since purchase; bearings, drive shaft but things are improving. I’m not a mechanic but practical. The other day the rear passenger window came down as it should but on return there was a lot of grinding and the glass did not move. Motor is working. Advice on what to do please?

Cable or mechanism fail due to rust. Have a search on here and you tube videos show you how to replace. Basically you can buy the cables for about a tenner and retread it. Not hard but fiddly, or buy the whole window regulator and fit your motor for about 30 quid.

Not a difficult job at all. Prepare to do them all within the next few years !!

Yep they do fail and have a crazy habit of infection to the other doors 😂 Make sure you check the toggle switches regularly as they're another doozy. Eventually you're achieving the title of know-all 😉

Thank you for the advice. I have just fitted a new regulator unit. I'm really pleased. It works! It must have happened before as there was no plastic liner inside the door. I have left it like that. Should I have sourced a new liner?
