mig welder

I am looking to buy a second hand mig welder, I know bugger all about welding but fancy doing some so any advice on what i should be looking for. have seen these are they ok for novice welder. what money should i be looking to pay for a second hand unit.

A grinded will become your best friend. If you want a good weld, give it to someone who knows how to weld, but most of the time you won't see it. So give it a go, you'll love it.

Welding helmet with a # 11 lens, welding leathers, leather gloves, grinding shield, wire brush and chipping hammer, 24 oz ball pen hammer, c-clamps, mole grips, flash lite, various cold chisels and punches and this is just for a starter

you will find it easier with bigger set ,with more control of current,a biiger welder will often turn down more for thinner sheet

the ones i have been looking at have had 6 settings from 35 amps up to 150 would this be ok its only going to be used for minor things, that dont need to look to pretty

suspect the OP will need to add a trailing zero to his budget for one of those

you can get cheap second hand ones ,but im just saying to get as near workshop std as possible ,i used to have small snap on one absolute useless for anything less than chassis work so was no use at all on bodywork

you do not know that you are guessing, you don't have all the facts. what is the amp draw a 230 volts?And James didn't say a BIG MACHINE, larger should work on your 230 volts circuits as they would draw less than 30 amps like your water heater or electric heater.

Really I have a 16 amp hookup and a certificate by myself to prove it

he could put a 30A fuse in the plugtop
