small hole on RHS of airbox

Found a small (6-7mm?) neat round hole on right hand vertical side of airbox. Sort of in centre of where air filter sits (internally). It's empty and 'fluttering' on tick-over. Can't be right surely? Any thoughts? Thanks, R

Sounds like previous owner has fitted a synergy 2
The hole was probably for the air sensor on the synergy

so basicallly, it's not meant to be there, OK will blank it off.

The hole in the end of the air filter housing was used on early Td4s to secure a clip that held a heater hose to the end of the housing.

Air sensor? What air sensor on synergy 2?

on my synergy 2 there is a seperate air temp sensor that goes into the air intake

i think this was later eliminated on later synergys

Right mine has just the rail and the MAF plugs
