HI,
I have got a Land Rover Disco 1 auto 1993 3.5 v8 its in pretty good condition but I seem to be filling it up all the time, I know its not the most economical car in the world but I put £85 in it and drove 190 mile on the A1 and its nearly empty. Is this normal or is there something wrong if so can you give me some advice. It runs fine starts first time and does not smoke out of the exhaust.

Thanks chris

Those figures work out to around 14-15mpg. Depending on which model you have (you don't say), that is fairly normal for a V8 powered Landy.

If you find that unnaceptable, you could try fitting an LPG system, or better still, chuck the V8 and fit a diesel for 30+ mpg :D

sounds about right, 2nd thread like this today, a good service might get ya 2-3 mpg if yer lucky. A gentle foot and limiting yer speed to 55-60 will also help.V8's are thirsty, people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If yer dont weant em ill take em off yer hands. For a small fee.

From your previous figures (190 miles, £85, fuel price of approx 135p/litre) it works out to roughly 14mpg.

8mpg is too low, unless you are booting it all the time of course ;):D

If you have to think about fuel economy though you shouldn't be driving the V8. With fuel prices the way they are, it doesn't make sense unless ye have money to burn (literally!)

8 mpg is easily achieved.:D:D:D:D

Thank everyone yeah just worked it out again I am getting around 14.4 mpg. Ok then as long as I know that’s the average. I am only driving this car because I bought it for a rally but I am not doing it anymore and my other cars gear box went so left with this and no one wants to buy the car at the moment.
