hi all :)
im 16 and of course driving is now about a year off and personally i think a landrover defender 90 with a 300i engine is the perfect first car for me because ive looked at various insurance quotes and they are not too high. i also love landrovers to bits and cant wait to get one. BUT i cant seem to find a landy thats around £2000 and i have looked at loads but all of the ones that are "perfect" seem to have some slight problems which will most likely turn into bigger ones later on.. or they have no rear windows. i would rather avoid any extra expenses as around £2000 is really really pushing it for my parents... i do not want the 1988 models because they are crap. just a defender 90 300i with a high milage (within reason) because i know landy's are very durable, and mainly aesthetic problems like cracking paint or rust.
:).. matt.

why have you ruled out 200tdi's?

Going to be pushing it for a 300tdi that needs little or no work for
£2000!!

Whats your budget for fixing it ?
Fueling it?
etc

Nice way to start off on a forum, insulting a large proportion of the member bases' vehicle choice.

Where exactly did you get that idea from anyway???

Oh and by the way, your £2,000 certainly will not buy you a decent 300 Tdi Defender, you would need to be looking at a budget closer to £4,000-£5,000. Especially if you want a CSW.

im not sure how much for fixing it.. just nothing including large or complicated parts. eg. gearbox/engine

New Chassis, Rear X-Member :p

Are you or anyone you no any good at welding?

Bcos a 300tdi for £2k you probably guna have to do some work.
a 200tdi wont be much different maybe get one for £2k but itll be older and if not looked after possibly in a worse condition.

Dnt by the first one you see, i made that mistake :)

I've got quite a few years on you and have been searching for a half decent 300TDi Defender for ages .... biggest problem's being:

* those that have them realise what they've got don't want to sell.

* those that want to sell know that everyone and their 7th removed cousin want's one so they want an obscene amount of money for them ... even the one's that are knackered!

for 2K you'll never get anything to suit what you are after..

save more money, or buy an older model and lear how to fix it
