To be honest...in this case i'd try and buy all from one place as you need to get it to you...unless lz courier service kicks in...i don't normally advise that but you'd probably get a good discount and just pay for 1 delivery.

oi, storm is being nice tonight. Had a pint or five already, have you?-)

I understand how that is a write off, but I think a hammer and piece of wood will do. One incident, lots of battlescars... harr harr

But storm is right. Buy the panels, and even if you wont find the three or so hours to screw it on yourself, some garage near you will do it for not much money.

right.... we need to find an insurance boffin to help Aurora negotiate the best pay out / buy back price, anyone? as I've never bought a car back of 'em.

I'm on holiday :D:D

Normal service will be resumed shortly.

lol re numberplate :)

Yes, insurance is a whole other drama....

when they spoke to me yesterday they were implying they were going to take it straight away and crush it, which was making me panic...I kept saying ''I don't want it crushed'' and they kept saying it didn't matter, I could still dispute the value...they didn't get that it might have worth to someone...anyone...who could rebuild it. I was getting in a terrible state over it. The idea of having to tell poor dh not only does he feel like a bit of an idiot for doing that to his car...but the car was dead through no choice of ours.

TBH, I think he would sell it if it were the best option......for the car!

Please excuse my lack technical land rover or car speak....but as well as panels I think it needs door, windscreen and the stick things that hold the roof up?:eek:

(i.e. the bits that saved my husband's life)

we know it is, I was just noting Storms mistake;)

it doesn't happen often so you have to point them out:p:p:p

thats very kind...and very untrue :D

To the OP...you need to sit down and decide what you want to do with your 90 :)p)... then if you decide to keep, folks will help..same if you CAN get it back and want to sell it.

Thank you.

Yes. I think it will all depend on finances..how much they finanlise value at how much to buy back and how much to repair, or if someone wanted to pay for the ''carcass'' to repair themselves.

It seems so wasteful to crush him.

to be honest, it looks to me like the car didnt lose much value because of the accident, like storm said cheap to replace parts/repair. But that's without actually seeing the car.
I'm as far away as storm, so no physical help here I'm afraid.

You decide what to do. Repair will be not a lot, storm linked the parts, a new windscreen isnt that much (MTC2864 WINDSCREEN LAMINATED CLEAR | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series, 48 quid, Britpart) and the frame you will find at the breakers or the bay). The windshield frame is expensive as lrseries has only genuine, so look elsewhere. Otherwise I dont see broken glass in the doors (is it broken?), and the bulkhead and rear tub look alright. one spanner rating in haynes language. I bet you a pint you and your husband will do it in less than three, four hours. If you keep working and dont start other things....

Before you let them crush it send me a message. My father wanted a Disco, but I doubt he will know the difference

I'm going to keep you all in the loop everystep of the way.

Its all been a lot to deal with when you don't know what you are doing.

3-4 hours might just find dh having found a tool box ;) TBH, if he wants to do it and it takes a year, I don't mind...I'm not that sort of a wife....I just want to get the decisions right and be able to afford everything.

There are more post crash pictures....I'll get them emailed to me and they'll show any more damage.

I think bulk head is considered ''gone''.

What IS a bulkhead?

Well ... the good news...thats repairable (the front bulkhead is the 'wall' that seperates you from the engine bay...and is an integral structural part)

Bad news...wow..you paid way too much for it.
