i am restoring a Series 3 safari, when painting the bonnet, I noticed on the side flat edge it has a 3 digit number stamped on it, is this the part number or does it refer to a build number

Have ended up doing nut & bolt restoration on my first land rover, hope to have mot'd for Easter . Wings and bonnet fitting in next couple of weeks

If you can do a temporary seal of the system, the oil used is hydro scopic and will absorb moisture. Some times you can cut passes out of a condenser, it is basically the same as a radiator.

after 18 months of restoration started engine for first time, a lot of white smoke. I let it run up to temperature and still have the white smoke. I have fitted all new injectors, looks like too much fuel, is it a simple fix of adjusting fuel pump timing. If so do I adjust fuel pump clock wise...

I will not be doing alot of miles, so feel i will go with EP90, as this is in the axle. If it is relying on splash lubrication, surley oil will be better. Would they not be a risk of cross contamination if axle seal failed.

I have fitted 2 new swivel balls, should I use EP 90 oil, or grease pack supplied with ball kits:confused:

Cheers, they are earlier types, as 2 different size bearings in stub axle

I am doing a nut and bolt restoration, this Landy lay in a barn for 15 years, so I am changing them as a matter of course:o

I am changing all the wheel bearings on my series 3 1980, how do I know if they are imperial or metric, the old bearings are SKF and are marked. I have been told this is the year when they changed from imperial to metric. :confused:

Thanks, they are 4.7 ratio, where is the best place to get bearing and swivel joints as i want to repalce these.

I am stripping down my first landy a 1984 safari diesel, the diffs are marked 25T80, is this a 4.7:1 ratio diff. Can the diffs be refurbished easily.:baby:
