Well after 14 months of mixed feelings and the expense of the head gasket etc, rear diff mountings, then the ird unit started to play silly beggars, so ITS GONE!!!!!!!!!! to a friendly car dealer, new motor is a new vectra with full dealer history, joy of joys. thanks for all the advice given...

hiya again, I took the complete prop shaft off a while since and the rubber on the bearings is coming away from the bracket, I have some time off work soon so I`m going to replace the 2 mountings, I`ve seen the details to remove the prop from the vcu but will the mountings just come away or do...

Any recomendations? the rears are Wranglers, the front are bloody 6 ply van tyres {no wonder its noisey} I don`t do any silly off road stuff just normal road and the odd farm track to get me fishing etc, sizes are195/80x15. cheers

Hi chaps, help is reqd cos the 99 1.8 gl has developed an intermittent fault when i try to start it, sometimes when the key is turned fully to start nothing happens, the starter is not engaged, yet other times no problem the starter motor is engaged as it should! any ideas please?

Yippee, the G/L has just gone through its mot with nothing more than an advisory that the rear tyres are close to the limit, [although i did replace the anti roll bar links a short while ago]. So what tyers would anyone suggest for the beast ? the rears are Goodyear Wranglers but the fronts are...

Hi again, the G/L 1.8 circa 99 has developed a niggley rattle on the front suspension when going over small holes etc, no judder or wobble. when jacked up no movement in ball joints etc, any ideas? cheers keith:confused:

its true, last week my son bought a motor on ebay, but it was situated in Dagenham, so he asked if we could go and collect it in, wait for it, the gaylander!!! bear in mind that we live in gods country, yes YORKSHIRE and the thought of taking it on a motorway etc for such a long trek added more...

a while ago i asked for info on suppliers of the diff mountings cos my bus had a knocking at the rear when changing gear etc, when i had the motor on axle stands there was a lot of lift in the front of the three mountings, i was advised to contact ISLAND 4X4 website, did so and got all 3...

hello again, is it possible to replace the 3 mounting bushes or do i have to buy the bush/bracket complete? any idea of price b4 i contact the L/R dealer parts dept, also at times thre is a knocking directly under the h/brake lever any ideas? cheers keith.

here goes, where the prop shaft bolts to the flange on the ird unit, there is some lift in the bearing, is it possible to remove the 5 bolts & the housing to replace the bearing{without any gears falling}, in the haynes manual it shows a diagram but no mention of the bearing only replacing the...
