Thanks for the replies. New seals and a new collar should arrive tomorrow or Thursday so will stick them on and see what happens then, most likely leaking from the gearbox if the collar isnt far enough in. Old one put up a proper fight, hopefully this one will come off ok. Any tips for...

Pulled them apart tonight, cant see what one has been leaking. :confused: Only thing was when i removed the lower bolt (next to the hole it was leaking from), loads of oil came out where the bolt was, at least a liter or so. Is that normal? I drained it before i removed it last time. Is it...

yeah put a new collar on as the old one had a little pitting, should have left them alone, seemed logical to replace them when they were out... :(

Just finished putting my gearbox and transfer box in after doing a clutch change and have a stream of oil coming out. I assume i have snagged a seal when putting them back together or something, but before i start ripping it all out again is there any plug or anything that should be in the hole...

Doing the oil seal on the rear diff on my 2000 TD5 defender while the gearbox is out. All info i can find says there should be banjo for the breather. Mine doesn't have one, just has a red seal and a pipe sticking straight out the axel, is this normal and does it just pull out? Gave it a tug...

Will do if need be, was hoping there might be an off the shelf solution i could get delivered mostly out of laziness... and I don't have any 3mm plate left. Only transport is a sv650 so would save me having to borrow a car.

Removing my gearbox and transfer box today, used this page (thanks BearDy89)as a guide, now have the box about 1 1/2 inch slid away from the engine, but the transfer box lever is hitting the tunnel. Will i get it out...

Thanks for the tips, release bearing comes with the kit so will do that too. Not got any running probs with regulator and haven't noticed any fuel leaks, but there is quite a bit of oil about so will bear it in mind when the gearbox is out to check it.

That's great thanks for the info. Didn't know about the sealant but will order the gaskets since they are only a few pence and already have the sealant so will see what seems the best bet when I get to putting it back together.

Going to replace the clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel on my 2000 TD5 defender, got a trip to the alps coming up in August and it's right at the top of the pedal and have had it slip a couple of times making a quick pull away from junctions. Anyway is there anything else i should look at doing...

Just assumed they would be 6 as the bull bar that's on it the now is 6... Don't really want to mess about with it as taking it to the pyrenese in 3 weeks, so just want to bolt it on for a change.... Also looked at this one, it's also 6 but prefer the shape of the others, is that sad.... :o Winch...
