    300TDi coolant leak

Got a coolant leak on my 300Tdi Defender. Loses one pint of water per 100 miles. It drips down the turbo side of the engine - can't see exactly where from but starts quite high. It lands on the bar just in front of the axel (if that helps). Any ideas - is my water pumps about to go bang? Do I...

Help Rear Seats wont fold up!!!

There is a fiddy bit on the centre side of the seats. An old screwdriver blade can move a sliding part backwards to let another part slide over.OPnly to do this you need to move the seat quite a way forwards. I'm guessing you mean tilting the seats forwards. used to bother me until I got got the...

    Class IV VII MoT

I'd been told that as my 130 DC/HCPU has a GVW of 3500kg it should be on a class VII MoT. J ust spoken to VOSA. Very helpful. With 5 seats and 1.4 tons payload this can be either a car or a van depending on its use. If the vehicle were used to carry goods for trade then it would be a van. If...

    fuel guage

I can see the wires and all three spades are connected. Looks similar to a 110V8 I had a few years ago. Anywhere else it gets connected? How can I tell if the float is jammed or the sender 'fooked'? Or soemthing else awry. Anyone else experienced this inconvenience?

    fuel guage

OK. Thansk for the size comments and the suggestion that the sender is fooked. Any other suggestions about where a thwack might help (if the flotat is stuck - i did turn the corner rather smartly on a dry road...), or a wire that may have come loose.

    fuel guage

And for the sake of completeness the 130 has (so I'm told) a Range Rover galvanised tank. But whatever the tank or size, the guage has stopped working and reads empty. Not too convenient watching the mileometer and filling up when 250 miles are done.

    fuel guage

Maybe I shoudl add that the guage read empty and the light was on when the tank was full is still like that after 70 miles and a day later.

    fuel guage

I'm sure someone has had this happen to them. I turned a corner rather niftily and suddenly the fuel guage read empty and the fuel light came on. It was a quarter-half full, so out of nervousness I filled up and only squeezed 40 litre of diesel in. Has someting fallen off or jammed? Any ideas on...

    Heard this before??

Personally I prefer 110, as it is less hassle putting stuff in, but a roofrack shoudl take care of rods etc. I would suggest you drive a 300Tdi and a TD5 (with the same tyres)on the same piece of road that you use for commuting and compare the noise levels. Anyway If I were going fishing, I'd...

    110 Defender locking problems..

I had a similar problem on a Defender NSF door. "Solved" by using the lock on both inside and outside - but it can't be the last door to be closed.

Thanks Adz. I just need to make sure I buy the right part first :-)

    chassis component or body support?

Thanks for the reply. Its not round - its a 'C' section - and is several feet behind the gearbox crossmember. The tub sits on supports that are fitted to it. Hopefully the attached pictures upload and can say a thousand words.

Drill bits... spend more or less?

I use WD40 as a coolant/lubricant and titanium coated bits when it matters. anything under 6mm is just annoying and the bits are too thin for anything other than drilling sheet, unless you have a quality drill and a steady hand or drill stand.

    chassis component or body support?

Anyone know how landys bolt together? At the back of a crew cab there is a bolt on cross member attached to the top of the ladder chassis (so maybe not part of the chassis for MoT purposes?) that has more corrosion that I'm happy with? Does anyone know the part number for this, where to get...
