I know it is a old thread. I’m in thetford forest most weekends laning, if I’m not there I’m at one of the local p&p sites. I know of a few legal lanes in the area.

Auto diesel p38. Gearbox oil is leaking from the bell housing. It looks like it’s coming from the drivers side near/or the rubber bung about halfway up. It still goes in all gears and drives with no slipping. Anyone had this problem. Is it gearbox out and replace a seal or new box time.

Iv pressed every button and knob and can't here no relays clicking. Rear windows don't work. Iv also tested the conternuerty on the front door switches and all is ok. Looks like it's inside the becm then.

Being a manual the becms are like rocking horse poop. Yes Iv got permanent 12v on them two wires is there supposed too be any more live there. May have to splice into the window wiring on the drivers door, if it's possible, just to get some air into the car. Just got to figure out if and how to...

Apparently this one is the 3rd working one put in it.

Is there a way of checking the window switches. Iv got power there.

I checked fuses first. Iv been on it all week tracing wires and voltage from becm too the window switch and doors.

1999 diesel p38 Iv got no Windows working or central locking but the drivers door unlocks the boot. The display is showing front doors are open even though they are not. Iv checked all wires to outstations from the becm and all ok

Sorting the hiab out to get two green badged heaps on it.

I knew I never use this site for a reason. Looks like another p38 in the scrap yard as to dangerous to use.

Surly the break won't work if that was the case. It's just passed the mot so nothing wrong with the workings of the breaks in normal operation. Only when abs or Tc cuts in.

Iv got a 2001 4.0 p38. Nearly every time the abs or Tc cuts in on the near side rear wheel it locks up. Any one else had this problem.

There is a freelander on a scrap heap in NORFOLK with a duf engine but all running gear is ok. And it was still mot,ed for 5half months

It probabley would of been but there was another engine there to try so I did. When the 3rd one was nackered I'd had enuf of it and scrapped the car. Even if I found a good one there is no saying how long it would of lasted.

The 3 I put in mine last week 1st one stem seals nackered 2nd bottom end nackered 3rd chucked all the oil into inlet so that ones nackered as well. Its handy having 2 garages in the family sometimes.

That will be the day no such thing

I should of kept a lot of things of it the clutch was new only done about 10miles. I won't be having another one that's for sure. Going jap this time I think.

Thanks for the answers but at 10am tomorrow she will be going to the great scrap heap in the sky and I will have £120 in my pocket. It was to expensive to keep her. Thanks again Paul
