Freelander 2 S or GS model

Going to look at two Freelander 2's tomorrow to replace my wifes BMW 3 series estate, one is an S model and he other a GS. I've only had LR Discoveries in the past so at first couldn't see much difference when viewing the adverts, however I've noticed the GS has a little dial for setting the...

    Genuine Safari Snorkel Disco 200/300tdi

I've a genuine Safari snorkel for sale for a 200tdi Disco complete with 200tdi Airbox, ideal for a twin battery setup in a 300tdi Disco. Two of the studs were broken so two bolts are araldited in their place, fixes on fine and doesn't effect the snorkel in any way. I've also got a copy of...

Should I complain about an MOT station

Took the Disco to have it's MOT on Friday, I've recently changed jobs so for convenience I took it to a garage over the road from where I work instead of my usual one where I've been for several years. Anyway the garage said it would be £54.60 and ready by lunchtime, I went back at lunch and he...

    Britpart bushes

I was wondering if it was safe to just cut a few mil off the bush, shouldn't need to I know but looks like that is what is needed.

    Britpart bushes

Anyone fitted britpart bushes (Yellow things) ? I'm trying to fit some to the rear trailing arms and I just can't get them to sit flush, pressed hard in a vice they stick out a few mil each side. I'm only using them to get a Disco through an MOT and I had them kicking around, on my Disco I used...

Disco 300tdi trailing arms and panhard

I'm after a pair of rear trailing arms and a panhard rod for a Disco 300tdi if anyone has them please. Not fussed about condition of bushes. I'm hoping somebody is doing a lift and wants rid of their old standard bits! Thanks

    300tdi wont go beyond 2500rpm

Thanks guys for all the advice. I think it maybe a fuel blockage as suggested because bizarrely this morning for no reason it ran completely different, I mean it sounded quieter at tickover, it ran much smoother and it easily ran up to 3000rpm, in fact I even felt the turbo boost at one stage...

    300tdi wont go beyond 2500rpm

Thanks guys, food for thought. Seem like I've definitely a problem I never knew existed! I do get a bit of black smoke when I put my foot down, nothing too much though. And as for doing 70mph uphill mine doesn't do 70mph downhill !!! Seriously what happens is as soon as you hit any kind of...

    300tdi wont go beyond 2500rpm

I didn't think I had a problem with my 95' 300tdi Disco until I got a lift the other day from a guy with a 300tdi disco, in my Disco I set off in 1st and change up at about 2000rpm, same pretty much up through all the gears, mainly because at about 2500rpm it feels like a rev limiter cuts in, it...

    Cranked rear trailing arms

Could somebody please tell me, is it OK to use double cranked rear trailing arms with standard height springs? I need to replace mine and somebody at work has some adrenalin arms that are meant for a 2" lift, would it cause any issues if I put on with my standard height heavy duty springs?

    Propshaft balancing

Thanks for the replies. I'm certain it's the prop as it was fine immediately before I refitted it, didn't know about the size difference, only that with one UJ the need rollers were bigger and the cups felt much more substantial than the other UJ which had really thin rollers and a crappy feel...

    Propshaft balancing

No I didn't split it, I just replaced both UJ's and greased the slider. Only thing I did which I wasn't too happy with was to use two different brands of UJ, the quality of one was much better than the other, that shouldn't make a difference though would it? Also with doing both ends I made no...

    Propshaft balancing

Just replaced both UJ's on the front prop and re-fitted last night, all seemed well until tonight when I went on the motorway and got above 50mph, getting really bad vibration. When propshafts are balanced from the factory are they balanced with the UJ's on then? Because all the info I've seen...

    r380 gone or repairable?

Could someone please help me with a problem with my gearbox? It's an R380 fitted to a 1995 discovery 300tdi, the first problem is it sort of jumps forward before taking up the drive, you then need to let the clutch out really slowly on every change, then the problem starts...it crunches going...
