Hi all been having problems with engine over heating and turns out the shells have cracked in the block :(. So it's obviously time for a new 300tdi lump. But will it be a straight swap or will I need to play around with immobilisers etc? Cheers Dave.

hi all i have recently done an head gasket on a 300tdi all is well set the tappets to 0.20mm job done. i come to start it and it kicks out a bit of black smoke witch is epected. but on revs it as a missfire and kicks out unburnt fuel any ideas ? cheers dave

Set it to 0.2mm and still smokin mate

I got one that goes 0.20 and one that's .015

Just looking now I haven't got a gauge with 0.2mm on mate

They were 0.02 lol ill do them to 0.2 cheers for your help ill let u no if it works lol

Ill just double check what I got the tappets set as coz I still got the fealer gauges out. Ill give the air filter removal a go see what happens cheers.

Grey mate only thing I can think of is before the head gasket went due to a clogged up rad. It was running fine no smoke/steam with the fuel pump played with since done the head gasket I set the tappets to 0.02mm as advised. Didn't no if its just the smoke screw that wanted turning down or owt mate.

Hi all I have a 300tdi just done head gasket after it failed. All is ok no loss of water or oil now but I have developed smoke on idle only but confused what it could be? It still pulls like a train but just smokes on idle has anyone else had this problem or knows what it could be . Cheers Dave ?

Hi all I'm after a set of black rear quarter chequer plates and a black bonnet chequer plate for a discovery cash waiting cheers.

Right after a bit off messing around I bump started it again and after 15mins of running I turn the key whilst the engine is still running and the starter turns over by the key lol so I turn it off to start it up again and nothing completely dead lol

it dont turn over what so ever mate

the starter turns when i do that mate when i connected it by jump leads

yes mate checked fuses and cleaned and replaced earth strap still nothing.
