Help smokes on idle only!

Hi all I have a 300tdi just done head gasket after it failed. All is ok no loss of water or oil now but I have developed smoke on idle only but confused what it could be? It still pulls like a train but just smokes on idle has anyone else had this problem or knows what it could be . Cheers Dave ?

What colour is the smoke?

Grey mate only thing I can think of is before the head gasket went due to a clogged up rad. It was running fine no smoke/steam with the fuel pump played with since done the head gasket I set the tappets to 0.02mm as advised. Didn't no if its just the smoke screw that wanted turning down or owt mate.

Tappets should be 0.2mm NOT 0.02mm

Looks like you need to re do em mate!

Grey smoke usually means over-fuelling. Remove the air filter and see if the problem remains.

Ill just double check what I got the tappets set as coz I still got the fealer gauges out. Ill give the air filter removal a go see what happens cheers.

They were 0.02 lol ill do them to 0.2 cheers for your help ill let u no if it works lol

you sure you have metric feelers and not imperial?

I got one that goes 0.20 and one that's .015

Normally feelers marked 0.00 are metric and ones marked .000 are thousandths of an inch.

0.2mm is approx 0.008'' so your .015 should be thicker than the 0.2........if not then who knows what you've got?
