    want county sides with windows

What condition are your van sides in? I have 90 sides with windows in (not original county, but look OK) that I would potentially swap.

    td5 defender stuck at 70mph

Wastegate, ECU, programming? Get a 300tdi and thrash the bo@@@ks off it. 80mph and 15mpg - its the way forward.........apparently.

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

Alright. Well, what with a combination of working away a lot recently and family stuff to take care, time spend on the 90 has been limited. For those of you that thought I'd thought better of it and sold it for scrap - not a chance.......The strip down continues. The angle grinder and thin...

    from gaylander to 200 tdi

Nice looking 90. Have fun. Fender is miles better than a gaylander. I have a 110 and my missus a new Gaylander - The 110 Fender wins hands down on every count apart from comfort, speed, fuel economy, reliability, build quality and rust.......apart from that the Fender is magic...... :-)

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

Hi Lyndon I m in Leeds, but as it goes I work in Bridgend most weeks, so could pop in at some point. Is the bulkhead in good order? By the way - Pikey did leave with empty pockets, but I think he scared the neighbours :) ScratyDom - It would be a shame to break up Scratchy, but if you...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

Thanks to redhand for calling in at the weekend to give his considered opinion on the 90. Much appreciated - thanks. So work continues. Have got most of body work removed. Just tub, seat box and bulk head to go. I will need a new bulkhead so if anyone is selling a cheap but good 'un let me...

    2.5 n/a 92 defender fitted from new?

Crickey Oldseadog - that's impressive! I will definitely keep the n/a in my rebuild if that's what it can do. My 300tdi only just manages to cruise at 70mph+ and doesn't give 30mpg......but then it has got a massive rack on top and loads of crap bolted to it......that might spoil the...

    2.5 n/a 92 defender fitted from new?

Chavvybloke, I have just got an 1989 LR904C and that has a 2.5 n/a. From what I can tell this was the engine type it left the factory with. IT ran for the best part of a 100K before it was replaced with a re-worked 2.5 n/a. The whole vehicle has been stood in a field for 6 years unused, but...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

If its a choice of spending money on a ladyboy or a landy then the landy wins all day long. Not going to let my heart rule my head, but do fancy a project to take on. Besides if it takes me a couple of years to sort it then that's fine. Red - thanks for your offer of dropping in and taking a...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

Think you might be right about the Coastguard being blue at the bottom. I was just guessing giving the half tonne of dry sand that was on top of the fuel tank. Maybe it is ex AA given it is definitely Yellow all over - even the roof before it was painted white. The roof and screen are now...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

I have another Landy - that is in a bit better condition (pic attached), so time to repair the 90 isn't a factor. I had thought of just spending however long it takes. Or however long the wife will tolerate it being on the drive way...... Budget, is a factor and I don't want to throw loads...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

So, managed to duck out of a trip to the sales with the missus and started to dismantle the 90 that my friend gave me. It took me most of a morning to clear out the hay, fence posts (!) and horse muck out the everywhere inside and out. Although it is now green, the original colour is...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I think that I am going to start dismantling the old truck and make an assessment of what needs doing. If it looks beyond my capability I may well be looking for someone to take it off my hands. Hopefully, it won't be as I quite fancy getting the old 90 back...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

Thanks all. I wil be asking santa for a new socket set, saying no to the Christmas Day film and starting stripping down the 90. It's probably a long way off, but any suggestions as to where to get the best (cheapest!!) galv chassis and bulk head?

    90 defender rebuild

Thanks for the encouragement. Your VW looks in a lot worse state than the 90 I have, so maybe there is hope for the old truck yet. It's not like I need the 90 as a daily driver. I've got my 5 series as a daily driver and my pride-and-joy 110 300tdi for the weekend. Think I will ask...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

Here are a few pics of the 90. It is in a bit of a state as you can see. I must admit, I am a bit nervous about starting a restoration. I will definitely need some help with the welding - and I think that there might be a lot!! Is it worth getting a new chassis and starting afresh?

    90 defender rebuild

I've just acquired an old 90LR 4C. I am thinking about starting a rebuild. Unfortunately my mechanical skills aren't as good as yours, so mine might take a few years. I might be mad even starting this, and I will definitely be asking around for help!!! However, seeing the nice job that...

90 LR 4C Reg - Bin it or Repair It?

So last week, I finally got around to dragging the old 90 that my friend has let me have, out of a field. After 6 years of being stood, to my amazement it started up (with aid of a boost pack and fresh diesel). So back home and here is the assessment:- 1. Rear 1/4 chassis - rotten 2...
