    Thank you for the replies, behind the panel all wires go to two conecters fitted over the printed circuits. I am a retired time served eletrician, these two answers just don't seem to cover the problem. I think there could be a crack in the circuits that open and close if tightened or opened...

    Sorry, I was was given a rough quote from a local 4x4 garage here in SW Durham £100/125. That includes a new belt but probably not VAT and I imagine I will have to pay for more anti freeze but I am happy with that, he can do the job.
