    IRD Driveshaft Wobble

Kenny88 - I have not solved it but just drive around it by easing up a little on the throttle when I feel it - it's only really in second gear as I drive hard so pulling back a touch usually lessens it so it's acceptable. I have noticed a couple of things though - it's worse when I am on my own...

    car vibration

I put the prop back on and the vibration is a lot less so as I have changed pretty well everything except the top engine and top gearbox mounts I will go there next!

    car vibration

I have put two new shafts on but not original LR ones, changed a wheel bearing and bottom ball joint and generally checked over all the suspension stuff. Why do you think suspension might do it?

    car vibration

I have tried finding any movement in shafts but all seems good. It's bizarre that it is better with a passenger in it. I am going to have a good look at the gearbox and engine upper mounts - anyone got ideas in this area. Not trying to steal this post but just thought it might help us all.

    car vibration

I think I have had the same vibration - more like a shudder when powering in second gear much less in third. Done all the stuff mentioned but not cured it - worse with prop off better with it on. Worse with no passenger better with! Been doing it for 4 years!!! Had my local friendly mechanic...

    synergy dashboard switch latching

There is a grommet up near the right hand side of the pedal box - it takes the cable for the bonnet release - its a fiddle but worth it.

    TD4 2003 - Front Driveshafts

Thanks - I did manage to get the nearside one off eventually and it is longer than the spare one I had so a new one is on order. I have had J&S ones in the past and they have been fine - very cheap at £39 each delivered! I only had to change this one because I picked up some metal in the...

    Black smoke since synergy 2

Use Millers Injector Treatment - Halfords about £12 a bottle that will do about 15 tank fills

Prioritise the crank case breather - it's almost essential on a TD4

Mines ok and it's a good vehicle - does what I want and some.

    traction control

I think it's very good as long as your brakes are ok and your Tyres matched etc. tried it lots of times and you can feel and hear the brakes working away. I was particularly impressed on a field covered with snow - also a very wet field - it allowed driving around without breaking the grass and...

    traction control

I use it all the time in my field to avoid churning up the soil - select and let it go 6mph - you will hear the abs brakes kicking in often so this may disturb the rabbits. I have a slow out if the field and it goes up no problem - I feels as though it increases speed to compensate. TD4 2003

    Starter Motor TD4 -Repair

Previously I went to a repair shop I know and they let me rummage through a box of contacts - I found two that were just about right but larger so cut and filed then to size - worked well.

    Starter Motor TD4 -Repair

It's a simple fix to a problem - the contacts wear down over time and as one seems to wear quicker than the other the plunger ends up not seating correctly so arcs and burns. This fix should be good for another 100k miles

    Starter Motor TD4 -Repair

Just a quick heads up on this - my starter was not firing up just a click from the ignition relay - I have stripped the unit previously to clean the contacts in the solenoid but the problem came back. The usual cause is corroding and wear on the terminals and round plunger inside (it also...

Fuel Rail Pressure sensor & Harness change

Also - the car will run ok with it because it is simply unused fuel being returned - that adds to the evidence

Fuel Rail Pressure sensor & Harness change

Yes - I would put a bet on it - easily missed or even broken t piece. I wouldn't drive it like that - it puts out a lot of diesel. If you have the same engine cover as mine there is a separate panel with bolts around - pop this off and all will be seen. If it is then dry off the diesel spill...

Fuel Rail Pressure sensor & Harness change

Here is a photo - you can see the hose across the top of the injectors - linking each via the T pieces. These are held in place by a small stainless clip. If you remove any be careful - don't lose the clip and the t piece can be fragile so lift out carefully - they fit into a rubber o ring.
