    Just to add I went to the Isle of Arran for new year, from Sheffield. I did 580 miles on one tank with some fuel to spare worked out at 33mpg using, using the old fashioned method, but also what the computer said. That was with 5 of us plus luggage... and 50psi in the tyres!!

    I have a fault with my 1998 P38. When on the motorway at a constant speed, then I lift off the throttle suddenly the injector / engine light comes on and i have no throttle response for 5 / 10 seconds - which is a long time on a motorway! Then the light goes out and the power comes...

    2.5 DSE (BMW) Removing Thermostat

    That was exactly the same problem I had, replaced thermostat (£9 and 30 mins) it gets straight up to temp and stays there. I would recommend replacing the thermostat then if that does not fix it look at the fan.

    I replaced the thermostat yesterday, it was pretty easy and only took 30 mins - plus time making sure everything was working property. Tools: 5mm allen key for engine cover 13mm spanner for wiring bracket 10mm spanner for wring bracket and thermostat housing Screwdriver for hose...

    Tyres for a P38

    My uncle has Insa Turbo Dakar (same BFG Mud Terrains) 235 R16's on his Disco (same wheels as P38) Put them on last winter and has done 8,000 road miles and they still look like new, good off road too. I am looking at some Insa Turbo Ranger (same as BFG AT's) for my P38.

    Thanks Kernowdragon - Very Helpful. I get 23mpg, all my journeys are around town on a cold engine, doing about 200 miles a week. Its 23mpg from the computer and when i work it out myself!
