    Sloppy gearchange

Thanks for that - didn't think to check if the likes of Powerflex did anything but I'll go and see if that will work for me. :)

    Sloppy gearchange

Hello all, I've been looking at the gearchange on my FL1 1.8 and read (I think from here) about Abbes Performance in Prague providing an upgrade kit. It all looks decent stuff, but I struggled to get close to actually buying it (the Paypal option wasn't working), and haven't heard back from...

    Freelander 1 R770 Head Unit & Display

Well, the original HU has been found and it's this: I was wrong in thinking it was a Sony as it's a Blaupunkt, but Google says this was fitted to FL1s and Defenders. A bit strange there is no mention at all in the handbook. Predictably there is no code in there or on the unit. I'd guess it...

Freelander 1 Rear Parcel Shelf Fixings

You forgot the plastic dye is a mix of supernova dust and unicorn tears. o_O I'll be having a bash at it later today in any case.

    Freelander 1 R770 Head Unit & Display

FL1, registered September 2000. A little frustratingly I can't find the old head unit otherwise I'd stick a pic up, but it's definitely not the R660 fitted to most models. You're right that just having a new single DIN would work out slightly cheaper but I'd only start looking at better...

Freelander 1 Rear Parcel Shelf Fixings

A good 8 years or so ago I got my hands on a rear parcel shelf and a pair of fixings. Over time I've managed to damage one of the fixings so it's coming off for some repair work. One thing I spotted is the metal retaining springy clip thing in the locator channel has at some point run for the...

    Freelander 1 R770 Head Unit & Display

The original (I think it was a Sony) had a CD player slot, but it broke and despite trying I cannot even find a picture of it on the web, let alone say what the model was. So that was replaced by an aftermarket one which has been a steaming turd for a while. For some daft reason I fancied having...

I'll have a look in the morning.

    Freelander 1 FL1 weird noise

No idea, I'm as stumped as a lad faced with his first ever attempt at unsnapping a bra. A friend last night suggested whipping the PAS belt off to see if it's the pump, so I'll do that at some point. Before then I need to fix and then refit the battery tray. What started out as a simple job to...

    Freelander 1 R770 Head Unit & Display

I've just tried googling using different search terms and it looks like there are two displays. YFB100380 is the clock display XQH100102 is the clock & radio display Looks like unless I find one from a scrapper then I'll not bother

    Freelander 1 R770 Head Unit & Display

Hi all, I'm thinking about putting a R770 head unit in the Freelander, which I believe then uses the clock display to show the various bits of info. Does this also need to be changed or is the display the same across all F1 models?

    Freelander 1 FL1 weird noise

Hello all, I have a noise while driving that has got me stumped. It's a pretty constant upper-medium pitch sort of noise and doesn't in itself sound mechanical - not a whirr or a grating or knock. It doesn't start as I pull away but makes an appearance after about 10-15MPH and carries on until I...

Automatic gear box knackered - advice :)

I'll stick up Penn Autos as one to try for people based in W Mids to go with the two mentioned up to now. They've done 3 for me, including a JATCO box and never had any problems with any of them afterwards. The bloke who owns the place has a bit of a special lover dragster too, was at one time...

    Range Rover Evoque 2011

Saw the 5-door verson out on test this morning, all disguised up with a swirly type design which only makes it more soddin' obvious. They're nice looking things.. The 2WD bit ain't down to JLR. It's these arses who tax people making up rules about car manufacturers having to improve their...

    Sloppy gearbox

Gear selection on the PG1 box should be easy to find and engage, the amount of slop in the lever when in gear you gave was way more than mine for sure. Sounds like it needs a look at with the linkage.

You could try Equicar in Coseley - 01902 882 883. They may have some body bits available.

Automatic gear box knackered - advice :)

It's stated on the factory checksheet as you mentioned - I have a copy of it here for reference. It's dangerous to assume a dealer will do it (as you also mentioned), partly because they won't do anything if they can get away with it, and partly because for trickier jobs like repairing the...

Automatic gear box knackered - advice :)

Don't know where you got that from. Rover's service schedule for the 75 /ZT models showed the ATF to be changed at Service D, which was every 60k.

The brakes are the most important part of a car. Don't buy on price, buy on value. There's a difference.
