    clutch slave push rod

Anyone know if there are two lengths of push rod for the clutch slave cylinder? I've heard there is a push rod length difference between the LT77 and the R380/ZF bell housings. Not a big difference mind, but there none the less. Anyone confirm/deny? Rgds JD

    300Tdi EGR fitting

When I took the EGR widgets off my 300Tdi, left over, on the top of the block was an electrical fitting. Is this a temperature or oil pressure sensor? JD

    300Tdi timing chain?

Boxer, all, Yes changing belts as required is no mystery. I've even lenthened the oil cooler hoses so the radiator can just swing away without disconnecting the oil circuit avoiding all that mess. It's been fun amigos! Hostila vista! Arr

    300Tdi timing chain?

Cat, Detroit, cummings, Yanmar, Izuzu are the engines I'm used to having. Hence the 600K ... no BS there. Now a nice slow reving Detroit engine what say 325rpm? At that rpm any guesses to road life? As for my Mexican sweater, you can't pull the wool over my eyes! Arr

    300Tdi timing chain?

Ouch! We usually expect our diesels to do 600K (assuming good oil changes and other maintenance). Getting the feeling I've picked the wrong engine. There's a little plastic bit holding the clutch lever arm and throw-out bearing together inside the bell housing. Not only is this plastic, but...

    300Tdi timing chain?

Oooh. Gorpin. Lovely terminology. :) I dunno, something to do with the hundreds of dollars and the six hours of work required on a regular basis to fix a design fault? Timing chain upgrade.. anyone? That Zeus gear set LOOKS nice but does it work for 300K miles? Arr

    300Tdi timing chain?

Zeus I think. Expensive and no track record out here that I can find. Thus the chain question. Arr

    300Tdi timing chain?

Well on other vehicles that I've owned with timing chains V.S. belts one NEVER has to change them .. chains that is. So from our Canadian point of view changing a timing belt every 60K miles is weird. And very expensive on a 300Tdi. So there being a ton of room in that front cover, why not a...

    300Tdi timing chain?

    R380 Type A/B

Bryan, Thanks. 'bout what I've figured. Reread the overhaul manual since my last post and came to that conclusion. Unfortunately for me I'm on the other side of the world and so things take too much time and shipping kills. So all other options need to be looked at. Otherwise would LOVE to...

    R380 Type A/B

Likely.. but that seems as if there is way too much I could get wrong putting it back together for me to attempt. Read the tear down description in the overhaul manual. I don't have the experience or the correct tools to undertake that one. If anyone has torn their 380 down and can comment...

    R380 Type A/B

Oh everything apparrantly fits except the shift forks can't lock down because the locking nut receptical appears to be 90deg from where it needs to be for the type A shifter. Everything I"ve managed to find on the net indicates that this isn't the only difference, but I can't seem to pin down...

    R380 Type A/B

Anyone know if or how an R380 type B can take the shift tower from a type A? I've got a near dead type A from my Defender and an apparrantly good donor type B. Cheers

    noisy 300Tdi

Timing adjust went a long way to solving the issue, but I'll check the valves a bit later. Thanks for the replies. A
