    Battery??

8 years is pretty good for a battery. The varta brand ones in my bikes are 10 years old, but live in the house over winter and are top up charged monthly. I have two car batteries that will not give out the huge cranking amps needed to turn over the TD4, one is an ex TD4 BTW but power the 12v...

    banging from nsf suspension

Will hopefully be checking the top nuts this weekend, changing brake pads too, getting a bit thin. Thanks for the tips Singvogel.

    banging from nsf suspension

Now thats interesting, Andrew. I have noticed that when driving home after covering the odd night for the regular night-man, I drive home, er, a bit quick! This includes speedbumps etc. There is more creaking and mild knocks at low speeds in "everyday" type speeds over poor surfaces or...

    banging from nsf suspension

I've done all the usual suspects, all front bushes, wishbones, ARB links, checked ARB hasn't moved sideways or bent, TRE's, checked for parts touching etc etc. Upper suspension turret bearing/bush and security of top nuts next, once I've got some time to move the fuseboxes and coolant res! BTW...

    Summer is here

Its nearly time to get the bikes un-sorned, but freelander stays ready for those jobs the bikes cannot do, carrying the weekly shopping, taking pooch out on the moors etc. It has been known to snow here in April...........

    Buying my first Freelander

The 03 one sounds expensive, it's 9 years old. I would want full spec, i.e leather, air con, auto, aux heater, heated front screen, full gen rubber overmats, etc at that price, no questions over service history, in fact, perfect in every way, fully loaded with all options. The 2001 is more...

    Slave cylinder pushrod clip

Had a guy with a 1.8 petrol FL1 come in today wanting a clutch slave cylinder pushrod clip, the one on the end. He says not available thru landrover, have to buy the whole assembly. No you dont! LDV Maxus van, pt no 5319 9007 7 will do the job, £16.31ex vat. If you need one mail order call Steve...

    Folding mirror problem

I've done both of my mirrors now. Both pins were broken in each case. I have repaired using a slightly different method to described. 1) Once you've removed the motor base plate, you'll see the broken pins. Drill these out from whichever side works, 3 or 4 mm drill. 2) Put the motor base back...

    automatic

People who are stationary for any length of time, say more than 10 seconds with their footbrake on, especially at night are both inconsiderate and lazy. The bright hi intensity red light is very annoying and causes dazzle to the driver behind. It is also dangerous, what if you involuntarily let...

    We're Free Landing now!

I'm well pleased with my Freelander, it replaced a 300Tdi Disco. Have had to be hands on with it, but, that's no different to any other Landrover I've had! Enjoy!

    Reluctant to start

It wasn't that cold here on Sunday when the starting trouble happened. It has been fine since, but true it is warmer. It has always been a perfect starter even on the coldest mornings to date, so will check the gloplugs at the w/e. thanks for all the input so far, will keep thread updated.

    Reluctant to start

Interesting, so did my old 300TDi Auto, 94 vintage! Just occaisionally, usually if not run for a few days, so put down to fuel drain back or vapour lock. Freelander has been fine today, instant start at 7:15am and again at 6:00 pm. Would like to get to the bottom of it though, am rather...

    Reluctant to start

Hi All, I've done a search on bad starting but most people have other symptoms! TD4, 82k, all fiters/oil etc recent, no synergy mod, egr air hose off and blanked, new battery last week, old one died from frostbite! Ignition on, wait a while, hear pumps whirring fine, turn to crank, spins over...

    TD4 Heater problem

With my old Disco 300Tdi I used to blank off one third of the radiator in the winter. Warmed up faster and the heater was too good. Is this worth a try in my Freelander TD4? Heater performance really suffers once outside temp falls to 2 or 3 degrees or less.

    Amateur radio/cb unit

The Yaesu FT817 is a very versatile rig and will give you access to HF bands for when you pass your exam. A 10-30w linear for 2m would be a good buy for mobile use, cheap enough on ebay, microwave modules, bnos, microset, all ok. I had one for a few years. Now have the 897, cracking set. G6BCC

    Freelander Hiclone Performance Enhancement

£50!!! Save your money. Another product with no independently verified scientific measurements to support the claims. How can it work as stated? A turbo running at thousands of rpm is going to cause much more "swirl" to the airflow than a few static bits of bent metal in the filter box.

    Fuel burning heater

The fitting manual (for dealer workshops) was on t'net a while back, the plumbing job looked a nightmare, and you would need all the hoses and pipes as well as the electrical bits, not to mention the unit itself if going the breaker route. Was thinking about a Kenlow hotstart, only useful at...
