I've just fixed the very same problem. to get the door open, unlock and open the door behind the drivers door, with key in ignition recline the drivers seat all the way, then with a rubber mallet whack the door card arm rest a few times then you will be able to lift the internal lock button up...

Sounds like the rods need setting up and need adjusting to give a shorter pull from the handle. Do the rods have slots in them to adjust the clips?

maybe the battery drain is something else, have you checked the Becm goose to sleep? the old rf might possibly be American and work on a lower frequency and so the remote may also run on a lower frequency and by replacing the rf box the remotes will never see the new frequency. Did you say that when you turn the key to position 2 you do NOT see the check engine ligh on the dash? and when you turn the key to position 3 do you only here a click. when key in position 2 what do you get on the display? when the key is turned as to start the engine what is displayed showing...

Rob, the two earth cables are under the fuse box bolted to the body. :)

Did you remember to re connect the two earth wires back under the fuse box and if you removed the plug fron the alarm siren did you re connect it? just little things that can be over looked Rob. :)
