When fitting the olives with the silencer do I need to use and type of sealant ? Haynes manual doesn't cover the exhaust systems in depth. Cheers.

Just fitted a new water pump and can't get the lower hose to get a good seal onto the pump. Is there any type of sealant I can use around the inside of the hose to get a good seal ? Cheers.

Do thermostat's either work or don't work ? Or do they become less effective over time ? Reason I ask is looks like I'm replacing my water pump and don't know whether to replace the thermostat at the same time. I've heated it in a pan on the stove and it opens to about 4mm, is this about right...

My 2.5 na (12J) 90 has had some overheating problems lately so I have just fitted a TM-2 watchdog so I can monitor the engine temperature a bit better. I know water boils at 100oC but at what engine temperature should I decide to be concerned ? I'm not sure if the antifreeze in the coolant...

While tensioning my aux belt today I noticed quite alot of play in the pulley that the fan assembly bolts onto. Is this something to be worried about imminently ? Easy enough to change/ special tools ? Cheers

According to the Haynes manual if I'm reading it right the same belt that drives the alternator power steering pump also drives the water pump. Is this correct ?

Just noticed this leak coming from my nearside rear wheel. It's not coming out of the brake pipe or bleed nipple but appears to come out of the rear of the wheel. Any ideas what the problem/ solution could be ? Cheers.

After a cracking day just thought I'd start a Fred for those that overheated with a clogged radiator. I know me and JP did and we saw other landies in laybys too. Luckily we both managed to limp home with hopefully no harm done !

I have fitted +2" shocks with standard height springs. Been advised its best to fit extended brake hoses as well. Is it just as important to change the rear hose as it is the front hoses ? I am having trouble undoing the rear and nut is starting to round off slightly, I have caked it in plus...
