    tappet oil ways?

Hi Thanks for your comments but as yet nobody has answered my question so after finding a local engine shop that had a Rover lump in bits I can confirm the tappets are fed with oil from an oil drilling running front to back on each side of the block. The pressurised oil travels through this...

    tappet oil ways?

Hi The engine was rebuilt to a budget hence the problem. Anyway on inspection the cam followers were inspected and only one needed to be replaced. This is NOT the one that will not pump up. The can was also inspected and was only showing minor wear so was reused. The ammount of slack in the...

    tappet oil ways?

Hi guys Need a little help and advice. Rebuilt a v8 engine and one of the followers (kinda wish I replaced them all now but hey ho) will not pump up. Of course it could be a knackered follower so I will replace it. BUT! If it turns out the follower is fine but the oil way that...

Hi guys You know when you take something apart and you always end up with somthing left over? Well I was doing ok until I found this bracket but I have no idea what it should be bolted to. It is a round tube flatened at both ends 1/4" hole one end and 3/8" at the other. I have the bolts and...

    v8 cooling fan

Managed to get my fan off today. A little heat from my parts cleaner, a few taps with a hammer and punch and hey presto. For the record it was LHT as stated by Series71. Just need to sort out a dodgy thread (helicoil already fitted by previous owner but it has broken up so with luck a fresh...

Is it just me or is it really difficult to remove a v8 without the gearbox?

Well I was gonna wash off the worst of it with Gunk or such like then see if I can sneak it in to work and put it in the machine parts washer there. Kinda like a giant dishwasher and ally parts come up will after an hour or so. Because of the oil leaks I really want o get the engine as clean...

Is it just me or is it really difficult to remove a v8 without the gearbox?

Hi All Blimey been having a 'mare getting my engine ready to remove to fix the oil leak and oil pressure problem. I thought it would be less work to leave the auto box in the car and just pull out the engine on its own. I had to remove so much from the top of the engine just to get access to...

    UJ change

I ran my last Disco with front prop removed and diff locked while I waited for a new UJ to come in the post. If diff lock is off and prop removed you wont move because centre diff acts as though there is no traction at front wheels and it just spins.

    Disco Door springs How-to...

Great feature. I think this is what must be wrong with my rear door handle. It only opens if I install the key in the lock and turn it to the left before lifting the handle. Assuming this is the same fault where do I get a new spring from? Thanks Michael

    Blind engine removal

Hi Guys (and gals) I'm a new Landy owner and am straight in at the deep end. I have a 93 v8efi auto with a major oil leak from an unknown location. Whole engine just covered with oil. Aside from that it runs well so I have decided to pull it out, clean it up and replace the gaskets and...
