    Quick search, its all there. If you've got a dipstick pump, its doable. (Never gets it all in my experience.) Under tray is a pig to remove the first time. Need a 36mm socket for filter housing. Good luck

    No, the buggered vcu is a freelander spares unit. Think they put chutney in them? According to sticker on it, it's lasted a full 13 months on the car! Replacement is a bell engineering unit. Bearings are gkn. All moot cos they are in the shed! Did I mention I've fitted the synergy? It's good...

    Yes, mpg is 45+ (1.8 td) just serviced it at 115,000 miles! I'm still in mondo with the freelander ( propshaft built up in shed) synergy set on Eco ( new 2a+ ) and I'm looking at around 40mpg!

    I was sold a lemon. I missed my freelander so went and got this one.(glutton for punishment) Vcu was an eBay recon I think ( freelandersparesuk) . It took the ird out last month after only being on the car for a year. I've thrown over a grand at it in the last 6 weeks!

    I'm in similar boat ( my 55 plate td4 is up for sale ) bit skint and new baby /wife not working doesn't help. I love the freelander but its our 3rd car and my missus hates it ( and the amount of money/time I spend on it.) good to hear you got good money. I'd be happy with that for mine...

    Back on topic, if your talking about original vcu, then about 48kmiles ! Freelander spares uk replacement = 10,000 miles! taking the ird and rear diff with it. My 55 plate td4 is currently in kit form on a garage floor!

    They have some real bargains now and again. I got my battery last week even cheaper than this (Bosch s5) paid the £4 delivery and it arrived at 9am next morning! It worked out half the price of eurocarparts!

    I had this problem. New battery solved it. ( when aa tested battery they said it was fine?) I got my battery from carparts4less. Arrived next morning.

    Saw a FL2 on its side yesterday, long story. Interesting to see the haldex at the ird end and then four? Vcu bearing type prop carrier bearings.looks a much more secure set up than FL1.
