Engine Oil and Filter.

Hi All,
I need to change the Oil and Filter(s) on my 2001 Freelander TD4S.
Is this a job I can do in my Driveway without the means over getting under the car?
And as I am no Spring Chicken would it be OK to pump the old oil out instead of draining it?
And are the filters accessible from inside the bonnet area?
All info would be appreciated.

Quick search, its all there. If you've got a dipstick pump, its doable. (Never gets it all in my experience.) Under tray is a pig to remove the first time. Need a 36mm socket for filter housing. Good luck

I can't see any problem with sucking it out. On my recent service I put to much oil in and used a lenth of 8mm copper pipe to suck the over fill out. Put the old oil into a container and measure it to make sure you have near enough got it all out.

The filter is in the front of the engine right by the dip stick, you will need a 36mm socket to remove the top, and put pleanty of rags underneath it around the alternator to stop oil dripping onto it.

I am also no spring chicken. Have to use stick and cannot get under car with my big hip problem. Did oil / filter change yesterday, sucked out the oil no problem, as others have said put plenty of rag around the filter as it drips as you lift it out. Definitely need the socket spanner.
5 litres of fully synthetic oil and a filter is £16.48 at Euro car parts at present. ( That's only 5 litres and you need 6.5) Hope this helps.
