After many partial sleepless nights, having had some financial disasters lately, I have sold my prized 2005 TD4 HSE Auto 5 door in silver.

Apart from the fact that the MPG was really not that good (local runs are my main mileage currently), I was SO worried about major failures.

VCU/IRD/bearings, as well as other possible engine component failures that might have resulted in me not being able to afford to repair it.

It was in absolute pristine and unmarked condition, inside and out with 85k on it.

Had the three amigos pop on about 4 tmes, but went out when brake depressed, so it was due, only, a new brake switch.

If you're interested, I got £5750, which I thought was quite good for a private sale.

I'm now driving an 03 Focus 1.8Tcdi Zetec estate

Take care all, I'll still lurk and help out where I can.........ebt

I'm in similar boat ( my 55 plate td4 is up for sale ) bit skint and new baby /wife not working doesn't help. I love the freelander but its our 3rd car and my missus hates it ( and the amount of money/time I spend on it.) good to hear you got good money. I'd be happy with that for mine. Landyzone is unique amongst forums I think, genuine people with 'real ' help and advice. Gonna miss the **** taking!

Man that sucks! How much can have possibly broked on it if it's a 55 plate . My missus doesn't trust mine (neither do I 100%) but she does like it. When it's properly sorted it'll be a keeper, I'll convert to LPG if gas prices keep going bonkers.

Imagine how I feel about petrol prices?? The V6 with a stupid auto box likes to drink the stuff :( I drive briskly too so see around 19mpg on my weekly commute. Having said that my old 1.8 Mondeo only did 23mpg without the Freelander's performance so it's not all bad.
But I still feel making the Freelander into a manual would help the mpg.

I'll be checking out soon chaps. With me I just need a change, so its a reasonably powerful car (never really had before) or maybe Disco for me. We been together over 5 years - longest I've ever kept a car, so will be sorry to see her go but just can never trust her 100%. Perhaps you cant trust any car this much but I remember back to Passat days and it never occurred to me that it might break down and it never did. As said before my Fleabag has been fine generally, needs a new clutch now and a few other bits that I just cant face paying for:)

I was sold a lemon. I missed my freelander so went and got this one.(glutton for punishment) Vcu was an eBay recon I think ( freelandersparesuk) . It took the ird out last month after only being on the car for a year. I've thrown over a grand at it in the last 6 weeks!

Ouch! Single most expensive job on mine was matrix a couple of years back. New VCU along the way, exhaust manifold and countless bits and pieces. I run mondo 50/50, so less strain on transmission. I need her to behave for another month or two:)

Yes, mpg is 45+ (1.8 td) just serviced it at 115,000 miles! I'm still in mondo with the freelander ( propshaft built up in shed) synergy set on Eco ( new 2a+ ) and I'm looking at around 40mpg!
