Hi, My new 1997 300Tdi has some issues with the Speedo... The speed reading is way out! To get the correct mph look at the KM/h and half it! i.e. if it says you are doing 100km/h it actually means 50mph. Is the speedo cable driven, or electronic? Any ideas on how to fix it? Cheers.

Cheers for your reply Yella, I was under the impression that the MOT test had to simply meet emissions requirements. The removal of a Cat (or two) contravenes the Construction & Use Regs, but to pass the MOT it isn't relevant. I await to be shot down in flames!

WooHoo!!!!! Fixed it! After painstakingly removing half the Discos interior and tracing every possible wire I found a dodgy relay so replaced it and replaced the bodged up fusible wire under the bonnet now it's all perfect!!! Now just need to put the dash back as it was..... and move on to...

Thanks Ormus, Have you any suggestions on how to remove it ( I reckon I can get access to knock a screwdriver through it and try and lever it out) but I assume you have to put a new one in by giving it a good 'tap' with the universal tool (hammer) but access is severly restriced....
