    Freelander 2 TD4 P0651 error

Hi , just checked all the connectors on the battery, all tight. Is there anything else that could give the P0651 code? I've had a good look around the engine bay but no sign of any loose or damaged cables.

    Freelander 2 TD4 P0651 error

Hi all, my Freelander 2 went into limp mode this morning. We plugged our Scan Tool in and reset a P0651 code. All seems fine at the moment. Does anyone know what I should check. The code description is 'Sensor B Ref Voltage Circuit Open' which doesn't give me any clues! Thanks

    Intermittant Complete Electrical failure

Hi all, I've found the cause of the problem in the old fuse box now, the positive feed post had broken away from the circuit board and must have been arcing to get a circuit most of the time. As the second hand fuse box I bought doesn't seem to be the right one I've ordered a new one (part no...

    viscous fan

Make sure it's not about to come off and take half the rad with it!

    viscous fan

Sounds like it, it should be very loose when cold but tightens up as the rad and engine warm up. I removed mine and installed a Kenlowe, leaves a lot more space to change the 2 belts etc.

Have you tried putting a screwdriver blade on the 2 heavy duty connections on the solenoid to see if it cranks then?

    help please

There's a 'MAXI' fuse in the engine bay fuse box, and also a normal sized fuse, worth a quick look to make sure they are ok.

    Intermittant Complete Electrical failure

The replacement fuse box has arrived, just realised the diesel and petrol versions have different serial numbers. So my question is what is the difference? Can I use the petrol version in my diesel P38? Connectors underneath look the same, only difference seems to be one of the 'Maxi' fuses. Thanks.

    Intermittant Complete Electrical failure

It's a second hand unit, if it turns out to be faulty too at least I get a full set of relays and fuses ! I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks Datatek, I've just ordered a replacement. Hopefully it'll arrive before the weekend. I'll let you know what I find when I remove the old one.

    Intermittant Complete Electrical failure

Hi Datatek, no sign of any heat damage to the contacts but it does smell like theres a circuit board overheating in the fuse box. Is there anything I can check before buying a new one. I expect they don't come cheap! Thanks again for your help.

    overheating

Island 4x4 sell a nice new water pump with proper metal impellar! Far better than the plastic version which falls off the shaft or falls to bits after a few years.

    Strange p38 EAS intermittant fault

May be worth renewing the 'o-ring' seals in the valve block, it's not a huge task. You'll find kits on ebay. I did mine a couple of years back, took a couple of hours and made a big difference.

    Intermittant Complete Electrical failure

Hi, the positive supply to the under bonnet fuse box is tight, no sign of any corrosion etc. I did notice though that the 2 fan relays were very warm. I prised the yellow cover off one, the coil winding was hot to the touch. I've swapped them with the screen heater pair to see if they run...

    Intermittant Complete Electrical failure

Thanks for the advice gents. It's behaved itself all afternoon which is good as I had to retrieve a friends trailer from the roadside after his disco auto gearbox cooler pipe fractured. I'll take another look at the fusebox and leads tomorrow and report back.
