Well... I picked trusty rusty p38 up from the garage after a 4 month holiday and spa session . Old girl was overheating and considerably incontinent. Heads skimmed and new valve guides. new timing chain, water pump. radiator and seals etc. running sweet and cool now on what is local record...

Well it was the oil cooler pipes...all nice and dry now

If you have access to a nanocom evo you can deselect lazy locking windows in the becm.Which should stop it happening.

Mines a early 4.0 with a touch of ally corrosion spotted around the extremities, It certainly isn't concourse and with 170,000 on the clock wears its scars with pride. Now do I touch up and treat said corrosion which will involve painting of course or just sling some better panels on which...

Ok so had the motor a couple of years . Seems its had an oil leak from new. never leaves a drip on the floor but from the oil filter back its wet. the steering arm is covered . can't make out if it's the oil cooler pipes. Is there a usual suspect?

Not that much hotter.. it points to a problem with the fan viscous coupling, water pump ,radiator and or thermostat.... not in any particular order.. My radiator was 50% blocked with mud in the cooling fins.

Look after the cooling system on a V8 and it wont fail either .. Come on Data. The diesels are just as big a piece of cra@ as the V8s... Do you own a diesel repair shop or something? The reason you hear about more V8 problems is there are far more sold and abused than the stinky diesel...
