19j clutch job - remove gearbox or engine?

Thanks for the suggestions. I was well into the job, right up to removing the props - and that's when I discovered that the garage that had done repair work to them in the past had mangled the connecting bolts and nuts to buggery. Not having the right kit to get around this I am now taking the...

19j clutch job - remove gearbox or engine?

I need to replace the friction plate on a D reg 1987 19j 90. Its a first time thing for me. To save up to £700.00 quid I've opted to do it myself. The questions are: those of you who have replaced the friction plate on a 19j what problems did you happen across (any tips?) and is it easier to...

Prat sparked battery - now, weird stuff

Yes - I checked them myself after removing the good Samaritan out of the way. To make sure I re-attached them, checking for corrosion etc

Prat sparked battery - now, weird stuff

A kind 'friend' accidentally touched wrench to metal whilst refitting a fully charged battery, resulting in sparks. Now, the D reg 90 won't start and when the key is turned it takes ages before the initial dashboard lights come on. Add to that if I attempt to turn it over the dashboard lights go...

Recommend anywhere Norfolk/Suffolk border and cost of clutch repair for 90?

After getting some scary quotes - it would be much, much cheaper to do it myself, as well as a good learning experience (?!). As I need an engine hoist is there a particular size I would need? How long does the job tend to take? And, do I need any special tools?

Recommend anywhere Norfolk/Suffolk border and cost of clutch repair for 90?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - being quite new to the area recommendations are important to me. I have toyed with doing it myself though sadly, its getting the time to do it and having the confidence to not eff it up.

Recommend anywhere Norfolk/Suffolk border and cost of clutch repair for 90?

Not having the right gear etc to do it myself can anyone recommend anywhere/anyone on the Suffolk/Norfolk border (wider Diss area) for repairing a clutch plate issue? And, from experience any idea of typical costs? Its a D reg 1987 model DT 90 Thanks

    Yes, when it works.

    What on Earth ...

Not to throw a spanner (or rubber mallet) in the works but, I had a similar problem a while ago. Turned out the fusebox area was so damn fussy that one of the connections had come ever so slightly loose - almost laughable except I ended up taking the starter motor out, cleaning it, messed with...

Anyone able to help with clutch plate issue?

Smell aside it revs well but won't move in gear (whatever you lock it into).

Anyone able to help with clutch plate issue?

It never rains, it pours. After solving one Landy 90 issue I get another. Could be worse... I was informed by the friendly RAC bloke that the 1987 90 needed a new clutch plate (noticeable by the smell of caustic burning plastic etc?) as the old ones were cream crackered. Is there anyone in the...

    Wiper motor issue?

My wiper motor is making a 'rough' sound when I activate the front wipers on the 1987 90. The wipers don't always work. Would I be right in assuming that it is on its last legs? (the wiper motor). If so, does anyone have a suitable one they no longer need?

What have you done to your Landie today.

De-iced the beast, then went out to work on the landy... . Changed some bulbs, checked and cleaned iffy earth points, new split pin for the bonnet arm, replaced a couple of glass fuses and finally, after a cuppa, did a quick mooch online for a knackered Disco to get a replacement engine for my...

    My First Crash

Reminded me of the time my mate reversed his Landy, hit a wall and ended up spending ages doing repairs - to the wall. I think yours was a case of a tank poking a cardboard box.

    Weird lighting - 1987 90

When I put the main beam on the main front light on the passenger side goes out and only comes back on with the main beam off. It appears that the vehicle is an ex military 90 - could this have a bearing on the bulbs etc?). Does anyone have any experience of this and possibly a solution?

    loss of drive

Rob Anybody - I very much appreciated your help in trying to get to the route of the problem/towing me and the kids home. As for locking the diff, it was tighter than a politician buying a round so, who knows what monsters lurk there.

Victim of city driving - no high or low ratio

After sorting out the faulty starter motor the old beast of a td 2.5 90 (1987 model) has done it again. A case of cityitus syndrome? I get the revs, can change gear but, get no motion. I had it (very helpfully) looked at by a kind gent who suggested that there was a diff lock issue - not going...
