Thanks DreXeL like the mechanic bit , never noticed that when i wrote it , must be shock of prices I was quoted this morning . ta for the information I was concerned about the electronics if new engine was fitted new injectors might not be friendly with current setup...

Help required again , recent probs with my TD5 shows that the head is finished , prices quoted for repair seem wild and vague !! also means losing the vehicle for a while , so am looking at the posibility of swaping for another engine which comes with waranty etc , straight mechanics dont bother...

please can anybody help , have a defender tds 130 , T plate which has a pressure problem . The symtoms are , when vehicle is run at any speed 50 / 55 mph over 12 - 15 miles when stopped there is a bubling noise of air returning to tank which can be herd from insidr , when the bonnet is lifted...

I encountered the old problem of diesel waxing on a loan 300 defender something I havent had in years , I added petrol (as you do ) at about 10-1 which should be about right. I was told that it was ok on older vehicles but not on newer ones ( common rail injection ) question is ,if you cant use...

Personally I choose a mid range oil (not cheapest ) but change oil quite often especially engine oil which I do every 4000 miles or there abouts.Suppose this is a bit often but its only a few quid for oil and a filter if you do it yourself,I change fuel filter every other oil change. :doh:
