    Td4 Engine Plug?

Thank's for that guys. We have had the mil light on intermitently recently, which was diagnosed as a boost fault. But with no info as to the faulty component. Usualy it drives fine, until the light comes on, & power is reduced. Feeling like a na engine. Then when the revs drop, the lihht goes...

    Td4 Engine Plug?

Our Td4 performed terribly yesterday, towing the caravan. When checking for loose hoses etc, I found a connecter at the end of the fuel rail, not connected to anything. There is a green connecter plugged into the pressure sensor, but there is also a black one not plugged into anything. The shape...

    Gearbox Oil Selection

I've been led to believe the Getrag box is as sensitive to oil type as the R380, where incorrect oil will ause notchy gear changes. I certainly founs a difference when I changed the gear oil used by the previous owner of our Freelander when they changed the clutch. Refilling with MFF made a...

Freelander 04 TD4 Rear light cluster

The loose connecter may well be the wiring for a function your vehicle isn't fitted with. Such as heated windscreen, seats etc. Assuming everything works now, including the heater fascia lighting...

local garage has fooked my propshaft

As an after thought. Have a look in the 'How to' section at the top of the page. Hippo has given a very good description of how the job should have been done....

local garage has fooked my propshaft

The VCU will be very unimpressed if it's been exposed to the heat from a BOC spanner. Remember they operate by small changes in temperature effecting the viscous gel's properties. Also if the props have been left hanging, instead of removing them properly. The UJ's will have been severly...

Did you find that by removing the wheel, and going for a short drive....?

    Question for dog owners

Our yellow Lab doesn't like jumping into the boot, as the landing zone isn't big enough, and he crashes into back of the rear seats everytime. Or he lands on the Poodle who will have jumped in under him.... But a standard Britpart dog guard does the job, and is easily removed if the seats need...

    Turbo Boost Fault.

Thanks for the pointers, everyone. A friend who runs a garage, and specialises in performance tuning has suggested a sooted up cat may well be the cause. (Probably caused by running with a faulty thermostat for quite some time.) As it mil lamp is still very intermitent, it's proving difficult...

Water leak into rear of Freelander

When our cubby box carpet was getting wet, I traced the wet carpet 'track' back to a displaced boot floor grommet behind the O/S wheel. When the towbar was fitted, the grommet had slipped after the cable had been passed through. A quick squirt with silicon to seal around the cables etc, and it's...

    Turbo Boost Fault.

Thank's for the ideas. Strange as it may seem, I'd never thought of either of them as possible causes. yet either of them gunging up with tarry toot could cause the problem. I think I'll pull the MAP sensor tomorrow, and give it a good clean, as that's the easiest to get to, and the inlet...

    Turbo Boost Fault.

Now the head gasket appears to be OK (I hope....), it's time to move onto the next annoying little bug...:( Our TD4 sometimes seems to loose power for a few seconds, before the turbo can be heard spooling up again, and normal service is resumed. For the last few weeks, this has sometimes been...

    TD4 Headgasket....?

Just a bit of an update. All appears to be well with the headgasket. We've towed the caravan for 100 miles this weekend, without any signs of overheating, change in performance, or water loss. So I'm hoping the loss has just been a leaking joint / pipe, which the K-seal may have solved. I've...

    TD4 Headgasket....?

Thank you to everyone for their input. As soon as work allows time to investigate further, I'll start hunting for possible leaks etc. A can sleep a bit happier now hgf is more unlikely than I first thought. I'll report any findings, as they may be helpfull for others facing similiar symptoms..

    TD4 Headgasket....?

The good news is the oil is still ok. I had a look earlier today, with a degree of trepedation (spelling...?), and all appeared well. The temp has run very low since we bought this model last summer, and only warmed fully when towing the caravan. This was solved by changing the faulty...

    Getrag Reverse Light Switch Replacement

I found removing the side splash gaurd was enough, and didn't have to remove the road wheel. Although the job was done by 'feel' and not 'see'. I was advised to select reverse gear before unscrewing the old switch, as this reduces the chances of parts from the failed switch dropping into the...

Thank's James, I'll have to hope it doesn't come to that though. I'm hoping for a leaking hose somewhere I haven't been able to see....;)

As an after-thought.... Would a leaking gasket not cause the engine to overheat? Which it isn't, even towing the caravan...
