I Have a Freelander 1 3 door soft back on a 04 plate. My question is probably a very simple one to most of you. Can somebody please tell me if the round red rear lens beneath the reversing lamp is a functional light or just cosmetic as I have looked through my Haynes manual to no avail. I would be most grateful if someone could please put my mind at rest. cheers

PS: anyone going to the classic Car show Nr the agricultural college tomorrow at Pencoed Mid Glamorgan J35 M4?

it just shows how many people try all the lights at least once every two weeks especially in winter

Not many people check tyre pressures or oil and water weekly either. Have to admit probably a few months since I last checked my tyre pressures, or lights for that matter.

Had to open the bonnet the other week to fit my new Synergy, now that was a struggle

I new a customer who was grovelling under the dash trying to find the bonnet release, she pulled a lever, got hit on the head by the steering wheel! Doh

Thanks very much, they sure are, now I do feel a duh! ha ha

I wonder if you would know anything about when the SRS airbag light stays on (on the temp gauge), if this is a problem that would affect driving the vehicle? I have also noticed a loose 4 wire connector (black,green,2xwhite) near the heater and was wondering if this could have anything to do with it?

it is not a problem with driving but if you have a crash then it would not work it will also fail a mot the wifes car had this problem when she first had it I traced it to someone having the conection off and not puting the coild back properly we had to have it put on the computer in the end to wipe the default after I had fixed the problems

The loose connecter may well be the wiring for a function your vehicle isn't fitted with. Such as heated windscreen, seats etc. Assuming everything works now, including the heater fascia lighting...
