    BCU Repair or Replace?

Many thanks Sierrafery for your great information. I am now sure that he has not chaged my BCU but was able to read the code from it somehow ? How else would it have the same EKA code as written in my handbook, surely not coincidental and not reloaded from ECU. Also earlier in this thread it...

    BCU Repair or Replace?

OK, so how could this be accessed if the alarm could not be disarmed. I disconnected the battery and had the vehicle transported to the garage. He pulled the horn fuse and put battery lead back on and tried the LR supplied (by him) EKA code which would not work. He then said that his plug in...

Yes it does count as a digit.

    BCU Repair or Replace?

I have also had BCU problems relating to lost key. The EKA code supplied by Landrover did not work and my local landrover specialist said he fitted a secondhand BCU and reprogrammed a new key. It now works fine and my mileage has not changed either. Strangely I found a different EKA code written...

Can Disco sunroof leaks be cured?

:)I'm convinced !! its masking tape and Sikaflex time. My sunroofs have have been pretty good really but this last couple of weeks.........disaster. The rear one has never leaked but its pi55ing in now ? I did intend to bite the bullet and take them out to reseal them but the torx screw problem...

    Rear air suspension

Sounds like the compressor is fooked usually due to water intake. Does the compressor run at all ? if not and the fuses are OK then it requires replacing.:(

    Sunroof Seals - any tips?

I would be cautious about using Sikaflex as this goo is a permanent adhesive so if your sunroof required removing for repair at any time in the future, it will be a right barsteward to release the frame from the roof. It was devised for the boat building industry and hence the effectiveness of...

    Engine update....still...

That is appalling. You obviously have a lot of patience, I would be communicating through a solicitor by now. I hope it will turn out OK now but they need to be named and shamed.

TDV6 are they as good as a TD5

I have also been having thoughts for a TDV6 disco but my local Land Rover specialist said they had bad electronics and poor fuel consumption and he also advised getting the latest TD5 possible as they were well sorted by then. Trouble is now, my current TD5 is going so well, averaging 25mpg...

What mileage is your Disco 2 on?

I have 126K on a 2000 TD5 auto which I have now owned for just over 3 years in which time I have put 40K on. its been great but the mileage I reckon is starting to tell. just had new steering rods, new suspension compressor, new alternator belt with tensioner and idler fitted. Good bye £900. I...

    Air Suspension Compressor

After spending a lot of time going through various electrical checks I decided it was time to change the compressor. I managed to buy a new one for £320 of my local Landrover Spares shops and it only takes minutes to fit. Bingo, everything is back to normal, the car feels great again and she...

    Bolts for side steps?

Most sidesteps fit on the body mounting bolts and then the the inner brackets line up with floor body webs which will require drilling to line up with the step brackets. i think they take M14 bolts plus the necessary washers and nuts.

    Air Suspension Compressor

Many thanks for that Sierrafery, I shall look into this tonight.

    Air Suspension Compressor

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my air suspension was no longer rising on start up. It does not sink by much when not in use but obviously does lift a little initially. On pressing the button to raise the rear suspension, nothing happened. On getting underneath the compressor could not be...

    Model upgrade

I have had my current TD5 for 3 years now and apart from some early niggles with the XYZ switch, all has been great and even better after being chipped by Mike at Dynachip, a superb upgrade, better performance and better fuel economy. So, I have now been looking at the later Discovery's, namely...

    Its definitely worth it..........

I had Mike from Dynachip pop round Tuesday evening on his way home and chip my TD5 and straight away you feel the performance difference, but what has really surprised me is the difference towing. I had to take a Vivaro van on a trailer some 50 miles and the low down torque now is phenominal...

    Discovery 2 Electric Mirrors

Thanks chaps, a job for the weekend, along with the normal other maintenance bits to keep 'em going.:p

    Discovery 2 Electric Mirrors

On emerging from a tight space in a multi-storey car park, I asked the missus to push the nearside mirror back out (they are not electric folding type), this she did using the glass as the pushing point. I now find the electric adjustment of the glass to be 'vague', it does move but not by much...
