Discovery 2 Electric Mirrors

On emerging from a tight space in a multi-storey car park, I asked the missus to push the nearside mirror back out (they are not electric folding type), this she did using the glass as the pushing point. I now find the electric adjustment of the glass to be 'vague', it does move but not by much. I have looked in the workshop manual but all it details is the complete replacement of the whole mirror assembly. So, what could have happend behind the mirror glass, and how do you remove the glass without breaking it.

Push gently the glass on the "doorword" side....u'll see the mechanism behind it from the exterior side.......u can just grab it and also gently pull the glass with both hands(from the exterior and the top)......it'll pop out...(it's a manouner which needs handyness so if u brake it dont call the vengeance of heaven against me pls)....but before u do that try just to push the glass while u are giving commands from the button, maybe it'll jump back in its place.

there is a small flat plastic strip in top corner clips to back of glass(top corner nearest door) i found if this is not connected or in the slot mirror doesn t work properly

Idiot question. Is there only one fuse for the mirrors. got a facelift 2002 V8. The mirrors have power and can be adjusted. However when I try and fold them, nothing. This is a USA spec car and its loaded with what I presume are factory fiied extras. Seems strange they would skimp on two electric motors. And while on the subject of idiot questions... Its got a strange history, very low miles and mint. Must have been parked up for some years. No sevice history. I have changed the engine oil and air and oil filters. All other fluids are spot on...Question is do they degrade and should I get them all changed. Im thinking of ATF etc.
