    London to Gambia trip

Hi We did that trip (and a bit more) 2 years ago in a 110 200tdi. The 200 & 300's are a lot simpler to work on than a TD5, so you won't have to wory about needing diagnostic computers / tricky electronics etc. Our 110 had done about 190k (miles) when we set off. We just returned from a trip to...

    Fuel Calculator

....unless your REALLY good at bartering!! Don't tell me you've never converted miles to kilometers then gallons into litres to prove to some Land Crusing German that although you use more litres per 100km's, the price of Landy spares are cheaper and easier to fit......

Hi Barbara - thanks for the tips! I have learned from Africa to always keep some firewood on board (mainly due to deforestation, not torrential rain) but will keep an eye open for those sawdust logs. Speaking of fires, we're planning to take a fire-wok with us to keep our fire off the ground. Is...

Hi Richard. We're heading to Norway for a month, leaving UK on 6 Sept. Planning to leave Dover and drive up through Denmark where we'll get the Hirtshals to Kristiansand ferry (thanks Storm) and from there explore the West coast - see how far we get! On our return we plan to take the Esbjerg -...

Defender - expedition preparation - interior shelf & storage ideas

There is one sheet of 25mm ply bolted against the window. In pic 7 you can see the lower 3 bolts which are existing (originally used to attach grey plastic trim) and along the top I drilled out 4 holes and bolted through into the 'U' channel. I then built the rest of it from 9mm ply. It takes a...

    Roof Rack

is it a 1.2m or 1.4m wide tent? Presuming you want it overhanging the back, with a 1.2m you'll have to chop out the rear upstand of the rack and with a 1.4 you'll probably have to chop out some of the sides too. We have the same rack and although old, they've got excellent weight distribution...
