    Gutted. Again.

Went to Cornwall with the tin tent being dragged by my 300 disco. Toodled round all for 2 weeks, no issues. Then on way home Saturday morning she overheats and i presume has thrown the head gasket, on a big hill on M5 between j19 and 20. I spent weeks sorting silly little things out, making...

To SVA or not - new to this Landy world!

Im not trying to burst your bubble, but i can speak from experience here. forget the "advice" given by DVLA, they lie. I bought a 3 door Disco 5 years ago, similar thing. Eventually i had to break it for spares as the identity could not be established. The body, chassis and engine were from...

    optima battery

As is said concrete dont help batteries, reduces core temperature which is bad. Ctek and similar smart chargers are worth their weight in gold, BUT dont pay the silly money for them. Aldi and Lidl do an exact copy now and then for around £13, and the only difference between the 60 quid...

97 300 TDi, 122k on the clock, running tickety boo :) But im dragging me caravan down to Cornwall in 3 weeks and was thinking of filling up with veg oil for the outward journey, it will save me £50 i reckon, plus its burnt off in pretty much one journey. Distance is approx 350 miles...

Side steps, a bit different from the norm.

Im about to acquire a set of side steps for me disco. Thin is these are "home made". Ok, not botched, proper checker plate and fabricated bang on shape wise etc etc, but they need painting as they are standard. So 3 options: 1. Hammerite, smooth black. 2. Plasti dip, liquid rubber spray...

Few tips please on Disco 1 300tdi

There are some good ones out there for the money. I've just bought a P reg 300 TDi, 7 seat, 122k on clock, 2 owners, last one for 4 years who was an absolute LR nut. The thing has been serviced to death, all the usuals dealt with (EGR, spider valve etc etc), even got a set of front and rear...

    Insurance Idea, if only....

Havent read all this thread, but a few facts. You can get a tracker system fitted to new drivers cars to reduce premiums, the insurer will pay, as long as you are not out between 11pm and 7am. That still can be done no problem with plenty of insurers. As for trackers on cars, your a bit late...

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

Just done mine. Lets be honest here on what to expect. Yesterday i towed a caravan weighing around 1300kgs and a boot full of tools 60 miles back from where i towed it Thursday. The Disco, 300 TDi manual with 122k on clock, performed ok, she wont win any races and you have to work the box on...

Tyres, which, when, how and what.

Right peeps, im the proud owner of a 1996 Disco 300 tdi xs. But the tyres are ****e. So, im after some all terrain tyres, as i tow a biggish caravan mainly on and off fields i need something with a bit of grip on the wet stuff, BUT mainly i wanna reduce the tyres wall and drop sizes a bit so i...

    Yella is a star

He couldnt actually afford to land and stay somewhere, so he got a round the world non stop flight from www.****allelsetodo.com Mind you he's got a good seat, right in between a Miss Amelia Earhart and Mr Buddy Holly.

    Whats this then??

Actually, your wrong. Its a manual doughnut hole punch to keep the yanks happy every time we bail the ****ers out of some other **** they've created. You put the dough in and firm it round the edges, poking the excess out through the centre hole. Run the engine for 10 mins and there ya go, mmmm...

    interior lights

First thing would be the door pins. They have a habit of sticking if not used, e.g doors opened and closed regularly. Check them first, push them in and pull them out, betcha thats the problem.

    Caravanners

Somebody mention caravans then??? Love em. I rally, run rallies and spend a s*** load of the year on fields at various rallies. I dont do sites very often, far too unsocial for me. As for towing, i pay my dues like others so i will tow at a responsible speed that keeps my outfit and others safe...

Speeding - alas not Landy related

Just as a pointer here, always ALWAYS go not guilty. We went to court, me and a mate, he was on cam being chased by a volvo t5 at 128, me i was slower at 121. We both went to court pleading mitigating circumstances as to why we were speeding, but disputed the speed. They just threw it out...
