hi can any one help
interior lights on 1999 td5 work manualy but not with the doors or key fob
central locking fine red light around ignition works tried local garage no luck i am not brain dead but try not to be to technical don't want to spend fortune ,thankyou for your help

First thing would be the door pins. They have a habit of sticking if not used, e.g doors opened and closed regularly. Check them first, push them in and pull them out, betcha thats the problem.

these door pins are they the plastic things in the top corner of the doors that pop up when unlocked if they are, then they are fine although boot can be temperamental with key fob but always pops up on secound click.
light still refuses to play ball, thankyou ott

There is a function where if you leave a door open for a while, the interior lights turn off to save battery power (assuming the interior light switch is on the setting to operate as you open the doors.)

Once this happens, even if you close then open a door, the lights do not come back on, you have to switch on the ignition to reset - I wonder if you have a problem with this?

Also, when the lights are set to come on when you open a door, when you turn off the engine and remove the key, the inside lights should come on before you open a door - to allow you to see inside the car - It would be interesting to know if this works, try it with the headlights on before you switch off the engine - I cannot remember if it only works when you've had the headlights on.

It would seem unlikely that all door switches have failed, possibly more likely to be a fault with the body control unit.

No they are not!

They are the push button doo dar pin jobbies in your door pillars that switch on & off when you open and close yeh door!

where abouts is the doo dar have a feeling the boot could be the problem
as the rear door was very stiff when purchassed this problem disappeared after few weeks of normal use that was 2 years ago in reply to mantamad the interior lights only work manualy at the moment

OOOps sorry wrong vehicle:eek:

Not them do dar's then, I think it will be a micro-switch in yeh door lock that says if your door's opened or closed-If you leave your head lights on,ignition off & open the door do you get a beepy warning???

Try blasting a load of WD 40 into lock to free switch which usually get caked up with grease.

Had a quick look at RAVE, it appears that the switch for the interior lights is incorporated into the locking mechanisim. Does seem strange that all 5 would have failed though - I take it you have tried opening another door rather than just the drivers to see if the lights work - and to state the obvious - you have the switch on the lights in the right position.

Unless one switch has failed and causing a fault - a bit labour intensive but disconnecting each door in turn might isolate the fault.

will try wd40 tommorrow car knows doors are open/closed as the alarm sounds the horn once if a door is not closed tryed this with all doors and it was aware on every one thankyou for your comments though as i am still hopeful that i may win this small battle.
