Im about to acquire a set of side steps for me disco. Thin is these are "home made". Ok, not botched, proper checker plate and fabricated bang on shape wise etc etc, but they need painting as they are standard.
So 3 options:

1. Hammerite, smooth black.

2. Plasti dip, liquid rubber spray on paint, black.

3. Powder coated, satin black.

Cost is about the same near as damn it, so what should i go for?

Or any other suggestions?

The girlfriend wanted "her" side pink. We discussed it, and after showing her the space in the freezer for her head, we stuck with the original 3 options.

Finally, this one im qualified to answer powder coat for optimum film integrity, chemical resistance, weathering, anti-corrosion

Hammerite, as when they inevitably get scratched you can just sand and brush over the damaged bit. Power coating has a nasty tendency to peel once split!

If you want a foolproof anti-rust finish, hot dip galvanizing will do the trick. Totally rust proof for longer then the life of the Landy. Would cost around £30.00 plus getting them there. I use the people at Cardiff, they do a fantastic job and the turnaround to here in cornwall is three days.
