    judder at rear

I dont know much about cars so i may be a million miles off, but i was having those symptoms on a previous car and it was my CV joint, the gator had torn and the grease had come away, was a ticking time-bomb

    strange smell from Freelander!

it's got a picture of a car on an incline (car is facing downhill), and next to that is an upward facing arrow with an 'R' above it and it's not like a switch as such, rocker switch, it's a sort of trigger which you pull in and the gator pulls down into position, then a green light comes on...

    FL Alloys issues

yeah, I was joking there the cruising comment was because alloys are something a boy racer would flap about and the gaylander was to try and look cool amongst the FL haterz <- more gansta slang there :D

Head Gasket gone - guide on price?

cost me about 300 in all, we did it ourselves get a haynes manual, and start ordering off ebay :D also took the opportunity to do the water pump and timing belt while we were there, but these jobs were far from easy in comparison to the head gasket, that was more time consuming than difficult

    strange smell from Freelander!

we used to get a horrible smell of something rotten, noticed it more when reversing. ever since i changed the clutch cylinder it seems to have gone, also we have a thing on the gearstick which i think is used for reversing uphill

    FL Alloys issues

hey guys, could anyone bestow some wisdom on me regarding issues I might have when putting non-OEM alloys on my freelander i'm sure i'd read somewhere (cant find it now though) that landrover dropped a bit of a bollock as some models weren't comatible with other alloys, something to do with...

    Freelander - Fit a PRRT

I've heard that fitting the grey thermostat (engages at 82 degrees) is the better one to use. is that as a direct replacement? would installing the PRRT with the grey thermostat keep the engine too cold? ie. stop it from reaching operating temp?

Blown head gasket - repair suggestions ??

ok, so i've stripped it out now, coolant everywhere. replacing the blown head gasket with the 'supposedly' upgraded head gasket had the head pressure tested and found a crack there, so getting that repaired, having it skimmed too ordered a timing belt kit, may aswell change it while i'm doing...

    My Story...

I do like the defenders, and they would be perfect for my work but I dont think it would suit the wife and kids as much as me.

    My Story...

also out of curiosity (please forgive me if it is a daft question) but is my model a 4x4?? I cant find an obvious switch like on our other 4x4, there is like a pull down latch thing on the gearstick but this shows sort of a picture of a car on a hill with an R and a downward arrow :s

    My Story...

well funny you should mention this, I think the reason it was in auction was a head gasket problem. when i got it home i lifted the bonnet and the engine looked unusually clean, like brand new clean, which i thought was a bit suspect, a short look over to the left and a look at the water tank...
