200tdi air breather from rocker cover

Is it normal to get oil feeding back to the air box. I think the plastic thing on the side of the cover is a separator. If its not right what's the fix? Thanks

    Vibration 200tdi

I did test drive it with the front prop off and it was ok. Same result as removing the rear. This does not make much sense but the output is the only thing I can see at fault.

Yes you are correct however it is the only thing I can find with any problem. could it be internal to diffs or gear box if the fluid levels are wrong?

Thanks Mad, top job Buster! There was one bit I did not understand and that was the hit it with a sliding hammer bit?

wow you make it sound so simple! It does rotate but also feels a little slopy side to side but only by a couple of mm. The only other think I was thinking is if there is low oils in gear box and diffs etc. but also cant see how this would cause a problem like this.

    Vibration 200tdi

Bit of an update, check the front half and changed 1 UJ on the prop. Still no better, the only thing I can find that is slightly wrong is the front output shaft from the gear box is very slightly wobbly. I am guessing this is the probelm. So.... How do I change the bearing in here or what do I...

    Vibration 200tdi

ok, so I did try that earlier and all felt smooth. Rear prop back on and still the same problem. I think I am going to stop for tonight and hope I can get to and from work tomorrow with no issues and then check the front prop tomorrow. Cheers

    Vibration 200tdi

I would say I use the diff lock every couple of months.
  16. James

    Vibration 200tdi

How would I check the rear diff or is it a case of just opening it? I will re check the front prop etc though.

    Vibration 200tdi

I took the hand brake drum off and the output flange is ok. Road tested again, I think the slap and diff lock could be some slack in the gear box and the handbrake drum over spinning confusing the diff lock?

    Vibration 200tdi

No, prop feels good, it must only be about 2 years since I changed the UJ's on that prop. The noise was bad like all the bearings have gone completely and its just shaking around in a hole. Mine is not like this.
  19. James

    Vibration 200tdi

you got it mr noisy. Could the problem lie with the rear diff?
