Update!!!! The bolt securing the roller tensioner had snapped..has anyone else heard of a similar problem or is it just bad luck.

Ya got a picture of it? As I do not know what part you are talking about. Best thing is look on ebay for a complete second hand kit.

Hydraulic unit look on ebay about 80.00/100 quid. You just replace the lot.

Quick update on the tensioner problem..the bolt holding in place had snapped in the block. Asked the mech if this was normal he told me first time he had seen it in 20 yrs on any car, new bolt fitted and full service runs great again now, but for how long.:eek::eek: Its one of them love hate...

Possibly the drop links, they are attached to the antiroll bar and are a regular piece that need changing, not expensive and pretty easy to do but change both and possibly the antiroll bar bushes an all. ( they are a little bar with a ball joint at each end, have a look on ebay for a pic) Hope...

A bar with a ball joint top and bottom about 6 inches in length looks like the image ive attached , they are in the front wheel arches and drop down from the suspension to the anti roll bar. D:D

Just probably the extra energy going to the power steering pump..this can put a lot of extra strain on the engine at idle..try just turning the wheel without parking and note the engine note change (out of gear) and see if it drops a little, if so just give a little more revs when you are...

Any of the Diesels...no petrol, not just the head gasket but also the running costs.Mines a 1999 Di and i gives an average of 30+mpg all day long. D
