Right I will try to keep this short. About 3 months back actually threw a bearing on the drivebelt roller ( the fixed one, very pretty sparks an all and lots of smoke ) firstly is this another Freelander "trait" or have I discovered a new problem we should be aware of?
Then problem 2 tonight I start the car and the tension-er decides it doesn't like living in the engine bay, the main problem I now have is I don't have any brakes as such why has the servo stopped working and has anyone got a quick fix to get it to the garage without wrapping the thing round a tree?
Also do you think that there is a chance that it wasn't tighted properly by the garage? Because if so I can argue the toss when it comes to getting it fixed.
Oh one last thing I am so ****ed with this car I have bought another Beemer, as a second car but the way its going it will be the first.
Also nice to be back, but its always for the wrong reasons.

not heard of this one before (the tensioner bolt) May have been stripped/over/under tightened when fitted, but would be hard to prove.

however, the reason you lost brakes may be down to the servo. diesel engines don't have a natural vacuum which can be used for the servo assistance, so rely on a vacuum pump to generate the vacuum for the servo. This pump is generally driven by the auxiliary drive belt which is tensioned by......

Not totally sure on the arrangement on the 2.0 diesel, as mine is a td4.

good luck

Vacuum generated off a pump on the back of the alternator. No aux belt, no servo and no EGR.

However, no aux belt, NO COOLANT PUMP!!

Tow it to the garage otherwise you'll stuff the head.

Towing with no servo assistance, particularly a freelander is scary and not for the weak. Better to trailer it or tow with a bar or you might stuff the front end! :D
