    Intermittent starting problems

Hi there, I don't know if this helps but I had a fault very much like yours with my 2003 discovery td5. It's posted on here, but basically it was all because of a leaking sunroof (one of the all time favourites); water was entering the roof lining tracking down the wires to the...

    Discovery starting problem

:) Problem Solved :) Thanks to all who helped me. At last I think I've solved the non-starting problem. I have been able to track the fault to a joint/connector located to the left of the passenger footwell, behind a panel. Water, probably from the sunroof had been able to track down the...

    Discovery starting problem

Hi Ratty Thanks for your list of suggestions, here is the state of play so far: Battery was tested and was fully charged and the terminals are clean and tight. Did as you suggested and held the 2 battery leads together for 10 seconds, waited 10 minutes and tried again, unfortunately to...

    Discovery starting problem

Hello Ratty and Co. are you there? The same problem has occured again, went to start the disco and NOTHING, just the click from the relays. Thought I'd try what worked last time by key locking, then key unlocking, the alarm going off and then all was fine; but not this time! As Ratty...

    Discovery starting problem

Hi Ratty & co The Discovery is starting ok now, I did check the flylead to the starter all appears as it should with a clean and firm contact. Obviously as the disco starts ok, there is current running to the starter motor solenoid. It's one of those irritating occasional faults, but if it...

    Discovery starting problem

Cheers Ratty, I'll check it over in the morning in daylight, as I said in the post, it's fine at the moment, but not knowing if it'll happen again is a pain in the a***. It's good to know where to start looking, thanks

    Discovery starting problem

I have tried to search the symptoms the Discovery has, but no luck so far, so I hope someone can help. The Discovery is a 2003, manual TD5 and has suffered all the usual problems - air springs, started motor solenoid, fuel pressure regulator etc. Recently it has on three seperate times...

Sudden Differential Lock Red Warning light

Good question, I discovered that the cable to the trailor I used had been damaged by the hand brake system, that,s been fixed as well. So Davec you were in the right ball-park. Many thanks.

Sudden Differential Lock Red Warning light

Hi all, thanks for your help. Discovered in the end that it could be an indication that a bulb might have blown somewhere on the vehicle; on checking everything over discovered that the reversing light fuse had blown - problem solved. :)

So what d'ya use ya landy for?

Use mine for everything, today I was pulling a trailor full of logs I'd just cut and split having dropped a tree, this weekend hopefully it's off to Cardiff and next month it's pulling a caravan to Builth Wells to the Royal Welsh Show. Its colour is blue and mud and gets me about in comfort. I...

Sudden Differential Lock Red Warning light

Hi, can anyone help. When reversing a heavy trailor this afternoon the Diff Lock warning light came on, (I never knew I had a diff lock fitted); when I selected neutral or forward gears the light went out but was still there when I selected reverse again. Then I discovered that it came on when...

Coolant rail - where is it?

Thank you CharlesY I don't have RAVE, didn't know it existed; in the past allways depended on Mr Haynes (for my Series 2a) but I know better now. Pushed aside coolant rail, steering box now out and removed the drop arm (Sod of a Job). Well on the way now except local LR dealership in darkest...

Coolant rail - where is it?

Hi, Does anyone know exactly what the coolant rail is on a TD5 Discovery 2. I’m in the middle of changing the steering box and have been told that I have to unbolt the coolant rail from the chassis and move it to one side. Is it the joined series of metal pipes attached to the chassis under...
