Hello Range Rover people, I'm going to look at a tidy green range rover tomorrow and was wandering if someone would take the time to give me there opinion. Its a diesel (2.5DT), its got a private plate but its the p38 shape, its manual, done 170k, long t &t, generally good condition, some sh...

    Which 110?

Hello people, i am just after some opinions regarding 110 engines please. I am currently in between landrovers (have had 2 discos) and i can't stand my 'normal' car anymore. I really want a 110/defender 110 sw and am looking to spend £2500 - £4000. I only do 2 or 3 thousand miles a year but am...

    Squealing alternator belt

Just incase your squeak does come back, I had the same problem ages ago, tried the penny and tensioner bearings and it turned out the belt was the wrong thickness (ply).

My New Toy. Love it to bits already

Nice one heggars, its a great feeling when you bring home a new land rover! I still grin when i turn into my road and see my Disco in the driveway and i've had mine nearly a year. Wheel arches look pretty good too. Have you done the dreaded lifting of the boot carpet yet?

    How long will it last?

I look after my disco like a baby, washed every week. waxoyled every year, mini service every 6 months etc, i do about 3k a year and it spends most of its time on tarmac. I'm thinking about the long term. I want to keep my truck forever. Am i being nieve thinking that if i look after it that...

    How long will it last?

Good Morning my fellow Eskimos! Just a general question regarding the lifespan of a Disco. My 1995 300tdi passed its MOT yesterday:D after spending the weekend being welded:( (5 patches, all around rear seatbelt mounts). It's cost me about £170 to get it MOT'D which i think is ace! My question...

    Welding for the MOT

Thats sounds like a lot of money dude. Is it a land rover specialist? Maybe you could look at alternative garages? an independant mechanic that works from home would probably be a lot cheaper. Or do you know anyone who is good with a mig? There might even be someone on here in your area?

    squeeking fanbelt help please

I had a massive squeek coming from my tensioner, tried the penny trick, replaced the belt, replaced the tensioner bearing (£5.50 on e bay) and it didn't go away. As a last resort i tried the old knackered fan belt and the squeek stopped. I could not believe it. Turns out the new belt was 7pk...

    Would anyone touch it?

£350! stop dilly dallying and buy the flaming thing before someone else does! Worst case scenario: you decide you've taken on too much and sell it, for £350

    Fixed my squeek, still squeeking!

No, i didn't put the penny back in. I'll give that a try later. I did put a couple drops of 3in1 oil on the smooth face of the tensioner pulley last night, and the noise changed ???

    Fixed my squeek, still squeeking!

Hello peeps, i asked last week about my really loud chirping/squeeking(which started after i washed the engine bay) and i ended up buying a aux drive belt tensioner repair kit (bearings and snap ring) from e bay. I was so convinced that it would stop the noise but it hasn't!!!! The noise is...

    Landrovers

My hobby is my Disco. Having children has limited my time for hobbies so now on the rare occasion that i do have a couple hours to myself i'm out on the driveway. Doing servicing and finding the next problem to deal with, i'm learning all the time and isn't it brilliant when you do a job, turn...

New, really annoying high pitch squeeking

Done the penny trick! It reduced the squeek to keep the neighbours happy. There is a bit of play in the tensioner pulley, thats not right is it? Just had a quick look on paddocks and i can buy a new tensioner but surely i just need new bearings if theres play. Does anyone know if i can just get...

New, really annoying high pitch squeeking

Right. I think i remember reading about that. Take the belt off, loosen the nut on the main part of the tensioner and jam a penny in the back and tighten it back up. Is that right?

New, really annoying high pitch squeeking

Been out tinkering for a couple hours now, checked the alternator and that seems fine. The only way i can stop this horrible chirping is by spraying wd40 on the tensioner while the engine is running. And then it only stops for a few seconds. What does that mean? p.s. its a 300tdi with no ac...
