    I did remove the intermediate shaft when I done the head gaskets, and it was a right pain to get off. I just thought looking at it there maybe room to leave the manifolds on. Though I'm not sure how far the engine has to come forward to seperate it from the gearbox.

    Where did you get the block from, and how much did you pay? I did check the liners when re-doing the heads. They all looked good, must have cracked in the wall and leaking up the side of the liner.
