I did remove the intermediate shaft when I done the head gaskets, and it was a right pain to get off. I just thought looking at it there maybe room to leave the manifolds on. Though I'm not sure how far the engine has to come forward to seperate it from the gearbox.

I am quite sure the block has gone. So I'm gearing myself up to remove the engine. Is there any tips out there? Can the engine be removed with the exhaust manifolds still attached? Because that right hand side one is a right pain to remove! What else needs to be removed?

Where did you get the block from, and how much did you pay? I did check the liners when re-doing the heads. They all looked good, must have cracked in the wall and leaking up the side of the liner.

Ok. So the merlin heads are not happening. The cost is too much for something that I don't really need. So I'm looking at V8 Tuner's stage 1 heads. Seem a good price and I may squeeze a few extra horses out of the old girl!

This is the side with the gas flowed head. I just wish I had gone with my gut feeling and put 2 new heads on. I did question the chap who rebuilt the heads for me if they would be ok. He said they would be ok. I going to start stripping it down again!
