After some new heads!

Looking for a pair of new heads for my V8 4.6 Thor engine. Seen plenty on eBay, but I don't really want to go there.
Have looked at V8 Tuner and Turner Engineering. Can anyone give advice on a good supplier?

So where's the best place to buy Merlin heads from?
Can I run them with the standard cam and rocker gear?

Through RPI.

I believe so although you might want to try a mild cam to get the best out of them. give em a call.

I looked into a cam, apparently the Thor 4.6 doesn't react too well (more accurately the motronic programming) to hotter cams. Real Steel's Viper Hurricane is the hottest cam you can get away with, even the Piper 270i is too "hot" for the Thor. Luckily the Hurricane is a nice cam, a good spread of power with a useful top-end gain.

Ok. So the merlin heads are not happening. The cost is too much for something that I don't really need.
So I'm looking at V8 Tuner's stage 1 heads. Seem a good price and I may squeeze a few extra horses out of the old girl!

Whatever you chose make sure the cooling system and gearbox etc can cope. Hypocritical from me suggesting merlin heads but beware of false economy and be prepared for other failures.

Short of forced induction or Nitrous Oxide, I doubt if any amount of engine tuning will hurt the 4HP24 in a 4.6.
