Freelander 1 What mileage is your Freelander 1 on?

Currently on 106,000(ish) miles - still on the same K Series Engine but had it's first head gasket service done not long ago at about 104,000 miles. Still remember when it reached 100,000miles - on the M4 outside Reading coming back from Surrey to Hereford. Sadly couldn't take pics of the milage!

    Squealing Noise from Engine

Thanks for the replies, I've taken a look at the alternator belt and it seems tight and showing no wear. I've also started the engine and I can see that the end of the camshaft for the exhaust valves (I think!) spinning around with oil leaking slightly from it. I'll defo get the Freebie booked...

    Squealing Noise from Engine

Morning all! It has been a while since I've posted on this site! Right back to business...several weeks back, the head gasket blew on my Freelander 1.8 GS - bang on the day before its MOT was due! So I had the "whole shooting match" done - i.e. New Head Gasket set, bolts, timing belt &...

    I keep getting flashed at!!

Yeah I experience the same thing but thing is that I go by my friend's Range Rover, he doesn't see how thats a problem due to obvious reasons!!!

    Gearchange ???

I sometimes have this problem too but all I do is to really 'poke' at the clutch with your toes (without the floor mats) and try to change gears. Though this practice does give quite a workout for my toes :)

    landy overheating

Might be worth changing the cap on the coolant tank. Had this problem before when the steam was coming up through the top of the bonnet whilst stuck in traffic on a cold day.

    Brakes

Hi folks, I had this problem for about week or so. I was approaching a roundabout on the motorway after about an hour flat out 70(ish)mph and as I was slowing down, the brake pedal started shaking. Now I got three yellow lights - Traction Control, ABS and the Hill decent Warning light. I...

    Freelander 1 speddometer accuracy

yeah, mine is about an extra +5, 4mph. So when I'm the motorway (where BMWs and Range Rover Sports fly by at the speed of light), I do 70mph but on TomTom says I'm doing 66mph.

Snow, Ice and Wiper rear wiper

For the folks who haven't read the manual, if you leave the rear wiper on, it will automatically switch over to intermittant mode after about 4 wipes being switched on.

    Where do you live?

I'm 14 miles from Hereford. Folks who live around Herefordshire should know where I am :) I got 1.8 GS Freelander (wish I had a diseal engine though but the petrol engine is a couple more quid to run so its not the end of the world), Monte Claro Blue (really nice when washed) and a bull bar...

    alarm problems.

So I'm just locking my Freelander by locking the driver door lock. Besides, does anyone know where the volumetic sensor located - I can't find it! Is it because Freelanders with hardback cover simply does not have a volumetic sensor?

    alarm problems.

Yep, I still have this problem but nothing I've tried worked. I've even created a Thread sometime ago and none of the solutions worked.

    Vibration

Check the brake pads and the brake capculiar (brake squeezy thingys). I had a simular problem to what you have written except it vibrated when I drive over 60mph.

    Roof Bars

Check the manual! It does appartently mention how to take roof bars on and off :D

Freelander 1 gearbox fault, please help!

Also just another piece of advice, when changing gears, try to 'poke' the clutch down (with your toes) as far it can go (you might want to remove the floor mat to this) and then change gear.

Freelander 1 gearbox fault, please help!

Ah, yeah, I had this problem before. What I did was to change the gearbox oil and use the Freelander more often. Eventually it all work out on its own. But there are times (rarely now though) where the problem will come back but only for a short period.

    which freelander

Hi, I'm not a car expert (but I'm a computer pro though) but a 1.8 litre engine should be fine (Petrol). I don't know much about 2.0 litre diesel engines but I would imagine they would be fine too. Word of advice...if you're going to buy a 1.8 litre engine Freelander then be careful on...

Need advice on my 1998 1.8 petrol?!?

Yeah, you might want to check the fuel filter or the air filter...changed my air filter once and suddenly got a lot more power again.

    Freelander - water leakage

His idea is the best. If this doesn't solve your problem....as a last resort...use duct tape around the door seals:D:D:D
