    Series 1 Station Wagon?

Not especially common but quite a few 107SW were made.

Series 3 Land Rover S3 Purchase Questions

IMHO it is not worth anywhere near £7.5k with rust in the bulkhead like that. For that money I think you should find a S3 that doesn’t need any welding. Then again, it’s always tricky to find something suitable that isn’t a five hour drive away.

Series 3 Land Rover S3 Purchase Questions

Having a friend who’s a welder is very useful! I hope you can find the series that works for you. I’ve had mine for five and half years and I’ve loved it. I only do the maintenance type jobs myself and take anything more involved to a specialist eg the clutch. Enjoy!

Series 3 Land Rover S3 Purchase Questions

Hello, looks like quite a nice early S3. My thoughts. Door alignment: these are notoriously difficult to get right. Need to adjust various elements. It may be a question of can you live with the misalignment? Do the doors close properly? As without dismantling a lot of the vehicle you may not...

Rear lights why is mine different

There are various difference even within series 3s. For example the blue one here is a later series 3 as the number plate is on the left instead of on the right. I think this change was introduced around 1976-78. There are a lot of details to learn!!

Rear lights why is mine different

The blue one is a series whereas your vehicle is either a very late series or early 90 or 110. What year is your vehicle?

    Series 2 or Series 3

That looks like a lovely, original station wagon. A good find and increasingly rare to be so original. The door mount for the spare is the original position for these station wagons. Whilst I like a bonnet mounted spare, as long as the door hinges are sound and you don't need to use a tow bar...

Help to identify the overdrive unit

I have a Fairey overdriver which I believe is standard. The dipstick is on the top of the unit. I guess this means your is not a Fairey? When you say there is a leak on the top cover, how serious is it? Seapage of oil from the unit after a long drive when the oil is hot and thin, may not be an...

does anyone know the thread size for the axle breather

I bought these new breathers from ebay and they fit my standard 1974 Series 3 axles. 1/8 BSP thread...

    Series 2 or Series 3

I have a 1974 Series 3 SWB. I love it. However, I'd probably go for the Series 2 if the condition is the same. As others have said, chassis and bulkhead condition are key, but also petrol or diesel. My preference would always be petrol in a Series. You say it is a Safari roof - if it is an...

    Series 3 Hood advice

I have an Undercover Covers canvas hood. The quality is very good. The Exmoor Trim hoods I have seen are of lower quality than my Undercover Covers hood. Note, their website is not very good so you are best to call them and discuss your requirements.

    Ignition light?

It’s very likely to be the alternator. The god thing is that they don’t cost too much and they are quite easy to fit yourself. Good luck

Defender vs Series - Buying/Selling advice

Hi there, I would echo what Kev12 says: keep the Series and get a boring sensible car which can deal with the commute and family duties. As you know, even quite new Defenders are not especially comfortable, safe or economical. It would be a real shame to sell your Series One that you have spent...

Hi there series 2a owner with a clutch problem

The master cylinder is in the engine bay. The slave cylinder is under the car, next to the clutch housing. Firstly, you should check that there is sufficient fluid in the master cylinder in the engine bay - the cap screws off and the level should be approx 5mm below the top of the cylinder. If...

    Heritage S3 insurance needed

I use Footman James for insuring my 1974 series 3. Limited mileage, breakdown cover and agreed value. Happy with their price and service.

Series 3 Recently purchased a Series III and have some questions

Yes, it looks like I’ve got an earlier gearlever. It does the job, though!

    Bottle Jack

I have the exact same kit in my ‘74 series 3. As tottott says, rods behind seat with clips. The jack is wrapped in a piece of carpet in the box under the passenger seat, along with the wooden handle. I use the jack, though it could do with a service, as it no longer fully retracts. It would be...

Series 3 Recently purchased a Series III and have some questions

Welcome to Series 3 ownership! I have a 1974 Series 3 and the gear lever touches the dashboard when I select reverse, as yours does. I am not sure if this is 'normal' but I have lived with it for nearly three years and I have not had any issues with the gear selection or gearbox in general...
